I may be misunderstanding the purpose of profiles in MPT given what you just stated. I have multiple phones to deal with and my original intent for using multiple profiles was to allow each individual in my home to mange their own phone for ringtones, etc. The problem right now is that userA uses their profile set up with their phone and "connects", but MPT will connect to userBs phone if their profile was the last profile set up (and both have bluetooth powered on, but not connected to the PC adaptor). Net result, someone gets cranky because their ringtones were changed by mistake.
If the userB phone has bluetooth turned off, then MPT just sits there trying to connect/initialize.
Do I understand the purpose of MPT profiles correctly?

Basically, all you do is pair the BT before openning MPT, that should give it the edge, then use only 1 profile, I think profiles were intended for loading differnet phone models, not different phones. Sounds like so far you got it, and I use the USB and manage 3-4 different V551's and it runs flawlessly with the same profile.
