i don't have a "land line", so all of my incoming and outgoing calls are done on my sprint pcs cell phone. my last bill was around 400-500 (actually paid $620, but about $150 was past due). that's when it hit me that i HAVE to make some kind of change. maybe the best thing for me would be to go back to a land line for daytime calls. however...

can anyone recommend a provider/ plan in which i might get the most free (or low-cost) calls during the daytime hours? i'm not interested in bells and whistles. i don't need 3-way calling, i NEVER text message, and i couldn't care less if my display were color or monochrome lcd-- so i'm not looking for a spectacular free phone as an incentive to sign a plan. all i'm interested in is the service that a regular phone is intended for-- voice communication!

i'm located in USA-- zip = 16801

thanks for your help!

nationwide free calling is nice... i do have some friends in TX and Colorado who i speak w/ regularly, but i don't need any special roaming features as i RARELY travel more than 150 miles from my home. i spend 90% of my time right here in State College, PA.

right now i'm on a 500 anytime for $50 plan, i believe.

i must add that, in general, i dislike the customer service provided by Sprint. while trying to fix a malfunctioning Kyocera phone one weekend the amount of time spent on hold, and re-trying what amounted to be the same attempted method to fix it, over and over, had to have added up to hours! hours of valuable weekend time, during my busiest time, as i was a professional performing musician at the time. the kindly customer service rep who finally managed to locate my problem and "fix" my phone, set me up w/ a special priveledge to get a free phone w/out having to purchase and mail in for the rebate (this would have been unique in that normally the phone must be paid for in cash, and then the rebate; a full refund is mailed to the customer-- but, according to this rep, my account was noted that i was granted the privledge of having a phone mailed to me, basically free of charge as a compensation for my inconvenience.) when i called back to redeem the "free" phone, i was denied. i needed the offer desperately as my Kyocera was continuing to malfunction, and i had no available cash or credit to make the advance purchase. i felt ripped off and misled. when i tried to complain, and explain the situation-- that i had been solicited the offer of 7am - 7pm, and 5% off of my bill -- a mix up because of all of the repeated calls to customer service, they revoked my benefits stating that it would not have been possible for me to have been granted both of those offers. i asked to speak w/ a manager and when she got on the phone, she agreed to change my 7am-7pm charges back in favor of the 5% discount, but i would have retroactively had to pay for any discounts that i received on the 7-7 plan. and why did i agree to any of this? the catch to all of it is that the savings were offered in return for signing another 2-year contract. so, now i'm stuck w/ this piece of **it service, and i'm not even benefitting from the promised savings!!

but, i digress...
