I AM NOT SURE IF THIS METHOD WILL WORK WITH UR MODEL. BUT ITS WORTH A TRY.
DOWNLOAD A MP3 CONVERTER AND CONVERT TO MP4. THEN RENAME THE FILE .3GPOR ANY OTHER FILE EXT. THAT IS KNOWN BY UR FONE.
I HAVE A T-509 AND AT FIRST I WAS PISSED BUT I USED THIS METHOD AND IT WORKS.

Now, I'm a computer engineer and I must say that, had it not been my "non-intuitive software survival training", I would be in a world of trouble. It took me two whole hours.
Sorry for the bad spelling and the length, but I hope this step by step helps. |
Wisp, you're my hero! I was surfing the web madly looking for a USB driver that would work on my WinXP SP2 PC. The one I downloaded from the samsung website didn't do it for me. As well as other forums or sites suggesting older drivers or on other international Samsung websites.
I did try your method but it still didn't work.
My PC detects when I plug my phone via USB cable but it keeps telling me the driver did not install.
I finally stumbled on another USB driver to try via Google, and for all you other munchkins, here's the link, HTTP : // WWW . smscaster . com / download_driver_usb_data_cable.htm (sorry about the chopped up URL.. the board seems to have a rule about no URLs of any such form until a member has reached over 10 posts. Just copy the url i provided and delete the spaces) scroll down and look for the Samsung driver.
This zip contains 3 files:
- Samsung CDMA Modem Driver Set
- Samsung Mobile USB Modem 1.0 Software
- Samsung Mobile USB Modem Software
After installing this PC Sync detected my phone after fiddling with the settings. I then realized that was one of the steps you wrote. Here's where your instructions saved my day: So I went back here and followed your instructions... viola!
My Samsung PIM and File Manager can now detect my phone and I upload and download with ease.
*big sigh of relief*
I hope this helps some of you guys!
Oh and PS. I'm using an E640 and PIM 2

help me please!
am getting seriously stressed with my phone.....
i recently bought my data cable and Easystudio PIMS and file manager software from a reliable seller.
i installed it and it worked....for a couple of hours.
now whenever i try to connect my x640 to the program a message comes up with "cannot read messages". so i click OK, but then it just crashes my computer.
can someone please help me to overcome this problem as it is driving me nuts!.

Try the PC Studio PIMS from Samsung and see if it works better for your phone. Check the following link for PC Studio PIMS:

I suppose you have already changed the port setting in PIMS to match with the port being assigned to the USB cable. By the way, have you ever switched the USB cable to another USB socket. If so, another port will be assigned to the USB cable. Go to device manager again to check which port is being assigned. Also check speed setting in PIMS. The optimum speed is 115200. If you have not switched the USB port, turn off the computer, unplug the USB cable and plug it back to the same port. This will reset the chip in the USB cable in case it was latched up for any reason. If nothing works and you are using XP, try restoring your PC to a date before you installed EasyGPRS and afterwards install PIMS or EasyGPRS again.

Those two are not supported since PC Studio PIMS, you have to use File Manager and select the folder to place the image or melody to the phone. Click F1 or select Help in PIMS for further details.
