Hello.
My mother bought this E730 phone and she wanted to upload music and images to it. There is no way she would *ever* *ever* *ever* be able to do it. Not in a lifetime.
Now, I'm a computer engineer and I must say that, had it not been my "non-intuitive software survival training", I would be in a world of trouble. It took me two whole hours.
So, this is what I've done:
1) Disconnect your phone from the computer.
2) Uninstall USB drivers, PC Sync, PIM, etc. Everything samsung cellphone related.
3) Install the USB driver downloaded or the one from the CD. It will complain about the driver not being authenticated by Microsoft. Just install it anyway.
4) Install PC Sync.
5) Install PIM + Download Manager.
6) Restart your computer.
7) Connect the phone to the computer. Now Windows will complain about something new being connected. If it asks you to connect to the internet to search for a driver, just say no. I don't remember the options step by step, but you want it to look for a driver in the CD. So tell him you'll show where the driver is and select your CD-ROM drive.
8 ) You might get this dialog about Windows finding a new hardware twice (it happened to me). If so, just repeat what you did in step 7.
9) I don't know if you need to restart now, but it won't hurt if you do.
10) Click on "Start Menu -> Configs -> Control Panel -> Telephone and Modem Options"
11) If you haven't configured it yet, it will ask you for some info. Just input anything at all to move on to the next screen, where you'll have the following tabs: "Recall rules", "Modem" and "Advanced" (sorry if the names are not exactly that, but I'm using a Windows in portuguese).
12) Click on the "Modems" tab to see a list of modems. You should have: "Samsung Mobile USB Modem 1.0" installed. It should also tell what COM port it has been assigned. If you don't, then you've done something wrong (or I have not told you correctly how to do it).
13) Open PC Sync. Click on "Definitions -> Phone Monitor Definitions". In this new window, click on the "COM Port" tab.
14) Deactivate all COM ports. Activate and reserve the COM port your "Samsung Mobile USB Modem 1.0" is assigned to.
15) Connect your cable. Ta-da! It should give you a dialog to register a name. Now you can sync your adress book info and all those things. Oooh, great.
16) Open PIM. Oops. Big bad error pops up and tells you you're not worthy of connection. So you still can't send images and music to the cellphone and make your ma happy. Very well.
17) Now comes the trick that worked (to me, anyway). Open PC Sync and deactivate the COM port assigned to "Samsung Mobile USB Modem 1.0".
18 ) Open PIM once again. Go to the File Manager and (hopefuly) upload something.
Sorry for the bad spelling and the length, but I hope this step by step helps.

Has anyone been able to sync recurring appointments for outlook. I'm using a D900. Standalone appointments sync OK but recurring appointments don't make it to the phone. This is for version 3.01 of PC Studio.

I think I have set up the port settings right but when I try to download things my phone isn't on the list. First after starting up the PIMS and file manager I click on the 'File Manager' icon along the top bar. Then in the top left box is says 'My phone' but when I click it my phone isn't in the dropdown menu.
Can anyone help
I am very puzzeled and confused
Hey, this is almost like a 1year "anniversary" (next month) question. Same problem as the above. I have a Samsung E-720, the cable connection works fine (for Address book and SIM Message back-ups) except that the Melody to Phone and Image to Phone features are greyed out in the drop-down menu like the above (which is a bummer coz that's what I really wanted the cable to work with) I have a Samsung PC Studio II version 2.0.02
Is it a software issue or I missed something during the installation?
Thanks in advance for any replies (I hope it doesnt take a year

Hi,
Same problem as r210, though it is not that the phone doesn't know what recurring appointments are, works fine if you use the lame ass Phone editor of PC studio's (don't think anyone alive would want that though) , but that pcstudio converts the outlook "appointments" to "miscalleny" thingies and these little buggers don't know the option recurring.
So does anyone know if there is an solution for this anoying little error?
(using a samsung D900 with the latest PC studio software)
Cheers in advance,
Skurftkip

Hey guys ive got a bit of a problem with the PIM Program so i tried to search it in google and found these forums, Ive got the Samsung SGH-D500, ive installed all the drivers properly for the fone to connect to the PC no errors working fine with that but when i go to open the PIM & File Manager on open it displays a message saying "Cannot Open the Port and this program is switched in Offline mode. After, try to switch in online. [OK].
Any Idea how to fix this problem about the port and how to switch the program in online mode =/ .. thanks for any feedback that u can give me.

im having the same problem, phone off line, iv gone to file and set up but when clicking to drop down menu and to find which com its located nothing is there and also what speed. Iv attached a picture via url
also its asking what modem, well i dont know if its asking what my modem is on my phone, if so how do i find out or if its asking what modem my pc uses, if thats the case its a erthernet high speed. The phone companies ie samsung is too blame, they have no idea and suggest unintsalling and reinstall which i could do for ever and it still wouldnt make any difference. I was good enough to purchase a phone from samsung but they are not good enough to help me out with a query, last time i buy from samsung.

THE SOLUTION! I kid you not!
Hi Guys,
Okay - Here's the deal... I had this working at some point, so I knew it wasn't a hardware issue. But after a format, I redownloaded the files from the samsung homepage, so I figured it might be an issue with the 2.0 usb drivers. Well enough babbling - this is the solution to the problem (atleast for the shg-e730 people out there).
The solution: Download the 1.0 USB drivers and install. That should solve it. The thing is to get windows to accept the drivers... just use auto install and it should find em itself. Just remember to uninstall the 2.0 drivers first. Btw - Pims 2.0 is working fine with the 1.0 drivers. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Btw - this is for the problem with connection, port and alike.
