Well yesterday my phone caused me a heap of problems. And I am not just talking about the terrible network quality and dropped calls. I had my phone on which was functioning normally as I went throught my day. I went to a friends house and relaxed there for a bit. When I arrived home, my father literally cussed me out for not answering my phone. He said he left 6 voicemails and I didn't pickup. Now at this time, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and it says "Insert SIM". I am very confused by the whole situation and my father insinuates that I am a liar and proceeds to yell and scream some more. Now can anyone tell me if they have had something similar to this happen to them. Am I just crazy or is my phone just wack?

Just take the battery out, then the SIM card. Put the SIM back in, then the battery. That should do it.

It's fixed now. I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen as randomly as I did.

For Matty 032: I have Cingular service, a Motorola camera phone. The first time I saw the "insert SIM" message, I took out and reinserted battery. Problem fixed. This time, that doesn't work.
I read the solution above, but where's the SIM card?
