Hey, I just upgraded to a samsung e315, and i luv it. Except i got one problem with it, the Shutter Sound!!!. My Sony t610 did not have this problem. This is really ticking me off. I've seen special codes for the e715. does the e315 have special codes?

So with a cable I could use the OptiFlash software to back up my current firmware (just in case) and re-flash the phone with the firmware from the link you gave and I won't need to unlock it beyond that? I noticed my phone (Samsung E315 Locked) displays the same firmware version (REV E3 3.1 E315UVDH1) so I'm guessing this is just an unlocked version of the same firmware, correct?

The firmware version won't tell you whether it is a locked or unlocked firmware. The best way to tell if your phone is unlocked is put in another provider's SIM card in your phone and see if it works. However, flashing an unlocked firmware to your phone should give you an unlocked phone as far as I know. Mind you that your phone's IMEI may change to all zero by flashing it with another firmware. Backing up your current firmware is very important as it will enable you to recover your phone if for any reason the other firmware is not a good one. The problem for backup is that it is not easy to know if you have successfully backup your phone's firmware. One wrong setting in the OptiFlash may lead to an incomplete backup of the firmware. Hence, a complete understanding of the OptiFlash software is very important.
There are tools that allows you to unlock the phone without flashing it. However, those tools are usually cost more than the phone itself. Fortunately, some shops provide the unlock service for a small fee. If you can find one of those shop, it is worth to spend that small fee instead of taking the risk of flashing your phone by yourself unless you are very familiar with OptiFlash.
A mistake in the flashing process may lead to a nonworking phone. Worst case is that it is unrecoverable unless it is returned to the manufacturer for repair.

What version of Optiflash works with the e315?? in the versions that I have the e315 is not listed and have been trying different ones to see if it will work but nothing is working with it yet!! Some guidance would be great... Thanks!
Ok well I finally got it to work KINDA... just so long as I do not shut the phone off, if I do then the phone is locked again! I am using a modded firmware from a e315 that is supposed to keep the camera quiet when taking a pic ( that doesn't work but who cares) any ideas on how to keep the phone from locking up after I shut power off??
Also is there any software that I can use to mod a firmware for the e315?
Thanks again...
