I have a 3220. Nokia makes a distinction between DKU-5 and CA-42 and says DKU-5 is not compadable with 3220.
I tried to buy a CA-42 from an independent manufacturer because Nokia doesn't even allow you to backorder one from their site. The cable was listed it as compadable with my phone. I bet it is possible Nokia has used different connectors over the manufacturing life of the phone.
I received a cable but the link to the driver appears to identify it as a DKU-5 although the cable itself says CA-42. The link was posted earlier: http://home.netvigator.com/~wjcorp9/dku5/. I tried many DKU-5 and CA-42 drivers with no success.
Whats the difference between the DKU-5 and CA-42 ?
The CA-42 is a true USB cable and not like the DKU-5 with a virtual COM-port built on a usb plugin, however both cables allow exactly the same functionality. This cable replaces the old nokia dku-5 cable, which is no longer manufactured.
If distributers are selling DKU-5 cables as CA-42 and they are not interchangable with some Nokia phones this could explain why people are having such a hard time finding a solution. Having no good evidence that this is really the problem I will try another ca-42 from the second link above.

I got my computer (running XP) using the drivers and hack drivers listed earlier to recognize the cable, but when I connect the NOK CA-42 cable to my phone I get the following prompts:
"Data Enhancement connected" followed quickly by:
"Enhancement not supported"
I'm using the 6102 and this really bums me out.
I noticed a couple people getting this error.
Model: CA-42
S/N WT048000317
Has anyone found a way for the phone to recognize and support the enhancement?
-Tim
Edit: I went back to check the S/N of the DKU-5 cable that I tried first, because someone on ebay was selling it claiming that it would work with the 6102 phone, which was wrong. I got the same enhancement not supported error. Well, low and behold the DKU-5 cable has the same serial number as the CA-42 cable that I have, except it has a different pin configuration. Both are NOK offs. grrr...
Edit #2: I tried using the DKU-5 cable and the CA-42 cable on my Nokia 3200 with all the same results, except that I did not get the "Enhancement not supported" error. The Nokia PC Suite still did not see the phone as connected via USB cable. It just keeps searching.
I'm going back to using the IrDA device I have.

I got my USB CA-42 knock-off today and could not connect, I searched the internet and found this forum but nothing worked. I finally got it to work by playing around with the settings in pc suite. I have a t-mobil 6101, hope this helps some of you although I cant guarantee everyone will have the same options. In the Nokia PC suite click manage connections. Make sure both serial and usb are checked. Highlight serial and then click on configure, then down arrow to the USB data cable option highlight and click ok. Mine started working right away.

I bit the bullet and bought a Nokia cable and Nokia CD and I was hooked up and running in 20 seconds. Cheap is expensive if it doesn't do the job.

Hello everybody, I have the same problem. I bought a compatible CA-42 cable via taobao.com(like ebay, but it is more popular in China than ebay.com.cn). The driver provided by Nokia cannot work with the compatible CA-42 cable, so I guess we have to install a nonofficial driver. I also got a driver CD, if anybody need the nonofficial driver for CA-42 cable, I'll upload it.

I have the same trouble as the rest of you posters. I have tried everything, and now at least I get the device manager to say the the cable is installed and working properly. However when I start PC Suite and try to "Get Connected" it will not recognize my phone. I have a Nokia 6103, a knock off cable from E-bay, and less hair than when I started this little task. Please I need help as I see no posts that deal with not recognizing the phone. Is the cable drivers still wrong?
