Hello Friends,
I'm new to this forum. But I have a suggestion, which worked for me with the CA-42 issue. I bought a new nokia 6070 and used the software called "Mobimb Media Browser" instead of the nokia pc suite. It has all the same features of Nokia PC Suite. You can download a trial version for 21 days from the site www.logomanager.co.uk and try it. First install the PL-2303 usb to serial driver and then install the CA-42 driver. Then you need to install the software and then configure it using the settings wizard. Then it will work!
This link should still work Malescot.. but I emailed you the file anyway. Good luck!

I gave up on my non-OEM cable (I have $6.40 invested) and bought a nokia CA-42. It plugged in and just worked. Everything works with using my 6015i as a modem and syching with my PC. If these fixes help you good, if you are like me and each one begat another series of hopelessness, just buy an official CA-42, it is worth the extra $20-40 you have to pay.

Those generic cables are wacked, put 'em back on eBay or in the trash.

Dont give up on the ebay ca 42 yet, try this
Un install any recent versions of Nokia pc suite and connectivity (from control panel) and the drivers.
Read the help pictures from the original disk supplied with the cable, no easy task!
But if you do it in Exactly the same sequence they describe and only use apps and drivers from the CD it just fires up lovely
