I just spent about six hours trying to get mine to work and finally did!!!!

Everything you need is available in this .zip file:

ftp://mcewen.selfip.com/pub/nokiaCA-42.zip

1. First uninstall any drivers, software other crap you have tried.
2. Go to the add/remove programs menu and make sure there is nothing there for Nokia.
3. Unzip and extract all the files to a convenient location
4. Install the Nokia PC Suite software from the file "Nokia_PC_Suite_682_rel_21_0_eng_us_web"
5. DO NOT TRY TO CONNECT YOUR PHONE YET!!
6. Run the PL-2303 Driver Installer
7. STILL DO NOT TRY TO CONNECT YOUR PHONE!!
8. Copy the remaining files that you unzipped in step 3 to the inf folder where you installed the Nokia PC Suite (C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6\inf)
9. Run the DPInst progam that is in said inf folder
10. You Will get a few errors but you should also get a few of the drivers to install.
11. Once you have complete ALL steps above you can plug in your cell phone but do not start the Nokia software yet.
12. Once the computer has recognized your phone and told you that it is ready to use, then you can start up the software.

Hope this helps. Let me know

Hi "studur" and "nokiasucks"!

I tried both your methods and both times when I put the cable and phone in for the first time (with PCSuite get connected running) the "Found New Hardware Wizard" starts up and the PCSuite does not get anywhere. So I'm not sure what is going on here but its pretty unresponsive!

If I then install the driver provided with the cable using the wizard is will install but the cable never seems to be recognised again (exclamation mark over the port symbol in device manager) and it doesn't help PCSuite find anything either.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Hugh

If you installed the drivers right you shouldn't get the found new hardware wizard, it will recognize and install the device.

Also you weren't supposed to have the get connected wizard running when you first plug it in.

If everything is installed properly you will get a little pop up in the corner of the screen that says the device has been successfully installed, you should not have to use the found new hardware wizard.

Sound to me like the USB-Serial bridge did not get installed (PL-2303)

What phone are you using?
Which drivers were successfull when you ran the DPInst utility?

When I use sel2pl.sys version 2.0.2.1, hardware can automatically locate the proper drivers and no error /waring is reported. In "USB controller' and "COM Port", "Wireless Communication Devices" and "USB to COM PORT" appear, respetively. But Nokia PC suite still cannot connect to my cell phone. After the PC is restarted,

In "USB controller", "unknow device" appears but in ""COM Port", nothing is related to CA-42.

Very strange.

If any lower vserion of sel2pl.sys (<2.0.2.1) is used (for the first time), a warning will appears.
