I too bought a NOK CA-42 from Hong Kong. I didn't know to look out for knock-offs but since it didnt work with PC Suite, my search eventualy lead me to this thread. I tried every single thing mentioned here, ca-42.rar, ca42hack.rar, driver01.zip, etc, etc. Though my cable too is the same as in Daniels picture, USBVIEW is saying below. Is there any possible way to make this one work?

Hello everybody
I read everything above and I have a simular problem.
When I connect the cable with my phone (without it doesn't do anything), I get a "new hardware found, USB device" followed by a "usb device not recognized."
The hardware is placed (in device manager) with Usb serial controllers as a "unkown device." When I check properties, it says "no drivers installed."
When I try to update the driver, it says "didn't find a better match for the driver." Witch is pretty strange because 3 seconds before there were no drivers installed.
I can't install something else, because it installs the "unknown device" the moment I connect the cable.
I tried almost everything: other programs, other drivers (all of them on this site), updating and reinstalling my usb-drivers...
BUT, I just tested it on a computer of a friend, and there it works with the original driver on the cd. The only difference is that his computer doesn't have USB.2
Does anybody knows what to do? I have a Pentium 4 2,6 ghz with a Asus P4PE-X motherboard.

I purchased one of these generic cables from eBay and experienced the same connectivity problems as described in the forum.
I too followed all the advice and downloaded all the drivers mentioned without any success.
I sent an email to the company and they responded within a few hours with an email detailing how to install and also links to the two drivers necessary to get the cable working.
Glad to say that it all now works and for anyone experiencing the problem, I suggest you contact the company directly.

Bartdevijfde, i suggest that you just get your cable changed! it helps! cause windows will have to install the new chip and will forget the ghost of the older ONe! YaaaY!

There r some cables that r not original . Some of them wont work but some of them might work. If your cable does't work than ask the shop about its problem.
