Hey, I couldn't use the drivers that anyone on here posted. The first one didnt work w/ or w/o the hack. Then the last one also wasn't registering. I put all 3 driver sets together to make one that works for me, so maybe it will work for you. I purchased my cable from -edited- and lost the little slip of paper with a random server's driver file w/o html. If I get that address again I will post it, but here is my site and there's a download available on there for y'all.
Hey! I just got an email from the company in china that made my cable. Here is a link to the page where the driver is at. this is from the manufacturer for generic cables.
I did a return on my Nokia 6102 recently. Cingular mailed me a broken phone and then the replacement and the replacement's replacement both said something to the effect of "enhancement not supported". Same model phone as before but slightly different software or something. Try this:
Install the PL-2303 driver (or whichever installs easiest for you- I've posted that one and another). Then open nokia PC Suite. Go through the connect phone process for a serial cable. Do Not plug your cable into the phone before you are absolutely ready. When you are prompted by the connection wizard to plug the phone in, plug it into the phone and then the USB as quickly as possible and the PC suite software will initialize the phone properly so the cable is recognized by the phone from then on.

Ladies and Gents I would like to thank you all for writing about all your problems. I thought Nokia was just trying to sell more cables when they warned me about the NOK-offs. I am taking the easy way out and buying my calbe from the Cingular store. Saving $20 is nice, but if it doesn't work it just a waste of $20.
New Cell Phone $99
New OEM cable $39
Not screwing around for hours with bad cables, bad code, bad drivers...
you guessed it --- PRICELESS!
I have seen the stuff that people are selling and been victimized before on eBay. When I asked if the cables were OEM they don't even write back.
FYI - best guess as to why the NOK-offs won't work with the OEM drivers is the drivers are copywrited. The only way they can make a cable is to make changes to the cable AND then the drivers need to be changed too. Surprised Nokia lets them get away with putting the CA-42 on them.

an interesting update on the CA-42 cables:
seems they are in short supply (the REAL ones) even NOKIA cannot produce the real chips fast enough to meet the demand for the cables... so what are the knock offs using... They are using different chips with different code. Thus only THEIR drivers will work (with THEIR chip/cable)

Several replica cables need both drivers, their own and the Nokia one.
It seems the driver of the eplica cables simulates the original cable which lets you use the original driver by Nokia so PC Suite doesn't know that there is a replica cable.
