Hey,
I didnt know where to post this, so I put it in general cell phone section
My question:
I finally figured out how to upload my own mp3 file (oye como va by santana) to my cell phone as a ring tone. The problem is that the sound quality is not that good. (The mp3 was cut down to a 15sec clip, but kept at full audio quality playing 320kb/sec with a frequency of 41000htz (something like that). The file sounds fine on my computer, but not so good on the phone. At first I thought it was the electronics of the phone (lg7000) but then I tried downloading a tune from a provider and the quality was much better. These are true tunes which means they have the lyics. So what I want to know is how I can get the mp3 that I emailed to my cell phone to sound better like the files that you can download for a cost from some provider

the problem is E-mailing them, you need to use a data cable to get the best quality, i used to be able to get great quality when e-mailing, now it's different, im wondering if verizon did something to get people to stop

i dont think verizon did anything. Ive read or seen nothing on the subject. I have the latest software on my phone, and the latest PRL, and both emailing, and the data cable work for me. One thing i have noticed in my trial and errors of getting ringtones on my phone, is that everytime i keep the file with a .mp3 extension, it sounds really loud and distorted. I dont know if your keeping it that way or not. The way i make mine is using either audacity, or bitpims conversion software, i have mine at mp3 stereo, 16000Hz, 48kb/s. I save it as mp3, then once its made, go change the file extension to .mid. I dont know why but it fools the phone, and they play great on mine.

oh, i totally forgot about that, i am so used to using the cable.....you have to go into folder settings, and check off viewing file extensions, then you click on the mp3 and rename it from .MP3 to .MID

ok so I changed the extension to .mid and emailed it to my phone (7000vx).
I received the message but no song played. It acted as if there was no attachment. I double checked that I did send the message with the attachment. And, the file on my computer played in windows media player when it was renamed to .mid.
So now what should I do?
Thanks for helping me though

I am using my comcast email. I tried emailing with no subject or message..just the attachment. No luck. I emailed the file with the .mid extension and the .midi extension. The only way it seems to work is when it is .mp3, but then the audio file sounds barely better than if I just recorded it on the phone while it was playing on my computer.
Any other ideas?
