I have the nokia 6230 and I bought a 512 MMC. I've got to admit that the phone is pretty amazing with all it's features but the software is really lame. Does anyone know of an alternative Media Player with wich you can forward or jump to a spot in a video? Or a Music player wich can read folders or even show full names? Even the phone browser won't let you browse the files on the phone, it let's you check some specific folders but you can't, for example, move programs from the memory card to the programs folder on the phone memory or the m3u playlist to the folder where they should be. I guess they did that to make u buy the cable. So Nokia, great engineers but get some decent programmers.

if by reading folders u mean to say finding songs from any of the folder in phone/mmc, then they rectified this from fw version 5.24 onwards. check ur firmware version if it is older than this then it won't have this feature.
Even buying a cable won't let u move programs from one place to another. U need to try out mobimb or "oxygen phone manager" although I haven't touched this so far.

on nokia 6230i applications must be *installed* not copied into a folder. you have to install apps using Nokia PC Suite which you can find on the nokia website. you need a data cable or IR port on your PC

The 6230 is a series 40 phone, so u wont be able to install any other media players in the phone. The only applications that u can install in the phone are java apps.
And yes, the phone browser doesnt allow u to access all folders on the phone. Its the same with a 3230. I don't think buying a cablw will help either.

I know I can listen to songs anywhere inside the MMC but then I can't FWD or RWD them. The Media Player won't read any song that is inside a folder, it only finds the files on the mmc root.

I have some Friends episodes on the MMC with a relatively good quality but if I'm watching the last 5 minutes and some1 calls, then I have to start watching it from the begining wich sucks.
I know how to install programs with the PC suite, will a bluetooth USB adapter help? and where should I put the m3u files?

yeah, you can use the bluetooth adapter. i dont know about the m3u files.. i use Oxygen phone manager for that, witch creates m3u and stores them on the phone. try putting them into the root

U can listen to all the songs anywhere in the phone through music player provided ur fw version is >5.24. press *#0000# and the firm ware version will appear on screen. if it is lower than 5.24 upgrade it (latest is 5.35, I upgraded to that one month back), then ur music player will let u listen any song on the phone with the FWD and RWD capabilities.
NOTE : The latest version of fw will need latest version of PC Suite which u can get from nokia site.
for doing all the stuff related to songs (moving to phone, making playlists etc) u need to use Nokia Audio Manager. Use one of the connectivity methods to connect ur phone to PC Suite and use this application.
