Don't know why they ask you to download the PIMS for D500 instead of the one for E335. The link for Samsung PIMS for E335 is as follows:

http://www.samsung.com/search/search.asp?qt=E335&la=en&col=wu+ws+downl oad&tabpage=1&radio=1&select=0&x=7&y=11#

As for the driver, I doubt if that is the correct one. You better ask them again and make sure they know that you are having the E335 cable and not D500.

those are some very good points. i downloaded that software and i can now see what port but my only choice is com 4. it still stays offline. i dont know where else i would get a driver from. i have emailed them a few times but they have yet to respond. they say be patient because there get so much email.

yeah i got the same thing and i can't seem to get mine to work either i found that the serial to usb was specified as com8 but when i set that into the pim settings for the com port in which it is attached the info still doesn't show up but when i use EasyGPRS it can pick it up but it can't read the phonebook or anything on the sim card so i'm thinking it is because the EasyGPRS is outdated for this phone but the PIM for E335 won't even read it i can't even click the reload it seems inactive (not colored) does anyone know what i could do to get this to work i think it may take a long time for a reply

Hi,

First, most important is to clearly know how to reset your COM ports in the device manager to sync with the software. If one doesn't work, you must try others. Also, for this model, I recommend either the E335, or perhaps the E330 software.

The E330 software was not working when first released, then they updated it. The D500 software also worked on the E330. The E335 is the US version of the Europe E330. Same phone.

Please try the info below, and if no success, let me know why. The cable has had great success so far for us. We only had a couple people out of hundreds ask about setup. See below for help:

** DRIVER **

Make a folder on your Desktop (or where preferred) and save the software & drivers in this folder.

driver can be downloaded from the above post by a user. That is the proper driver.

** GENERAL SUPPORT **

Try the other USB Ports on you PC. The cable may be set to run on a USB Port on your PC that you have not tried yet. It is best to connect the cable to a USB port directly on your PC, not through a expanded hub with additional PC peripherals using the same port.

If no success,

DRIVER INSTALL

Please see the URL web addresses for software/driver links above for your specific phone.

This is the USB to Serial driver that makes the PC think you are running a serial cable.

1) Create a folder on your Desktop (of where you prefer) and save the software & driver in this folder.

2) Unzip the software and driver you just saved into the same folder.

3) Connect cable with no mobile to you PC.

4) Install Driver files only.

Next, go to device manager and see under ports if there is a "USB to Serial" or "Your Phone Model/Brand Here" COM port being used. Highlight that, then right click your mouse and go to "properties", then the "Driver" tab. Click update driver (Do not mark the search online option for drivers). Set the Search to look via removable media (i.e.: your CD ROM Drive, PC Drive). Direct the Search to the folder you have the drivers in and click on the USB Drivers folder until you get to your operating system (i.e. XP, 2000, etc). Select this for install and proceed.

This will update the driver and you can confirm it in the device manager (see below on how to confirm proper driver install in the device manager.).

A Windows window may pop up about the driver signing. You can just click "continue Anyway".

Confirming Driver Install/Port # claimed.

After install of this driver, check under My Computer, Control Panel, System, Device Manager, then, go to Ports. You should see & note which COM port the USB to serial diver is using. Note this Port # and make sure when after installing the application software that the software is set to use the same Port #. If the Device Manager and the Software are not claiming the same Port #, the cable will not be recognized.

Install and start the software for your cable, and it should work.

If not, maybe switch the cable to a different USB port on the outside of your PC. This may work. Alternately, you must check set the cable to run on a different Port # in the Device Manager.

To set the cable to a different port:

Reboot. Then go back to Ports section in your Device Manager and right click the USB/Serial Driver as you did before. Go to properties and then port settings, then advanced. Here you can set the COM to fit what the software wants to use. Just make it a COM that is not used by other hardware (COM 9 for example). Make sure that the COM Port # you claim for the driver is the same one you claim in the software too. They must be aligned to use the same port to communicate. You can configure these settings here as you need to attain connection.

I also am having a problem with my Data Cable(from mobilesandpdas). I get the same error....Switched closed or whatever.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my cable three times and it hasn't helped.

Has anyone figured this out yet?
