i just bought a e335 from tmobile i also got the easygprs version 2.1 software to transfer data from my outlook files on computer to phone. it gives me a "cannot open port, switched to offline"[/b][/u] error message when i connect. i have tried switching it to all of the com ports but nothign changes. Tmobile says i have to talk to samsung about this and cant find an answer there so far. seems like it cannot access my com port but i have no idea how to fix. any help is greatly appreciated.

I suppose you are using data cable. Did you get the cable and EasyGPRS from T-mobile? If not, are you sure the cable is compatible to E335? Is the cable an usb cable? If it is usb, have you install the driver for the cable?

Yes, thanks i did buy it from t-mobile. it is serial vs. usb. it seems it cannot see my com ports or open one? I loaded the software and was able to bring data from outlook to easy gprs but it shows an icon at the bottom of the screen saying it is "off line". when i launch the program i get the com port error.
thanks for your ideas and help

When you said serial vs usb, did you mean the end to the PC is usb? If yes, you need to check which COM port is assigned to the cable. Can you find a Samsung modem in Device Manager? If yes, check which COM port is used for the modem. Or check if you have any ... usb-to-serial ... (COMx) under Ports (COM & LPT). Once you find which COM port is assigned for the cable, change Ports in EasyGPRS setup to match with that port. Good luck!

If that is the case, COM1 should be the correct choice. If it doesn't work, chances are T-mobile sold you an imcompatible data kit. Check the P/N of the Data Kit and ask Samsung if that is the compatible one. If it turns out to be a wrong one, you should return it to T-mobile and ask for the correct one or a refund.

thanks for all of your help. i know just enough to be dangerous! i have an email into to Samsung-could be weeks- to see if this is the right unit. hopefully it isnt and the right one works. downside is that i sorted my 3k contacts from outlook in the current version already. hoping i can export them to another file to use again. ah, if only this were as simple as my blackberry-rim is heads and shoulders above the rest for people like me.

My serial cable didn't work at all for me. So I ended up buying the USB data cable, and it works like a charm. IF you can't get your to work after talking with Samsung, I would try the USB cable for sure.
