i have a razr v3 from motorola and had the same problem as you did (hence why i'm at this site). i was googling topics for "invalid battery" and was completely frustrated. one night i dropped it and that stupid "invalid battery" notice came up and wouldn't go away. when i tried charging it it said the same thing and would barely charge.
t-mobile wouldn't replace it because i was 3 days outside of the exchange policy and they gave me a huge spiel about sending it in for service and all that junk. i searched everything and tried everything until the battery died on its own. when i plugged it back into my car charger the "invalid battery" signal went away and my phone worked perfectly.
so try that. just let the battery totally die and recharge it

My Razr battery wont hold a charge and sometime says invalid battery.
Verizon store guy told me to call Motorola.
I called Motorola. 1-800-331-6456. They cover the battery under warranty (the phone was purchased in March 06). A replacement battery will be sent to me. It will be sent Fed Ex within 4 business days (I gave a credit card # to hold until I returned the bad battery). You pay for return postage. You can use the same package to return the bad battery. (Make sure you get a tracking # at the post office, and put RA # on the package.)

My parents bought new Razr V3 phones, black ones. Well, mom's battery the first day said "Invalid Battery" so, dad swapped out the batteries between the two phones. It's been fine for about a month, now it's doing it again on her phone, with the battery that was in Dad's phone. So, what is going on here?
My lovely V3i phone hasn't had nay problems except dying once when I let the battery die fully. Whoops. But yeah, this problem is frustrating in and of itself, and the phones were both new, maybe hers just has some dust or something inside the battery compartment.
I hate how the common theory is just to replace the battery, take the battery out and replace it, yadda yadda. My old Moto V180 phone used to freeze up even on a half-charged battery where i had to remove it from the case then the baettery and it was just a pain to deal with. You'd think Motorola, since they put that in the phone, would know how to solve the problem more permanantly, other than suggesting they be sure they have name brand batteries, which both of thse batteries are the Moto brand.

I have a motorola z3 that I've had for about nine months, before this I had the same exact phone that out of no where started to act up and shut its self off, and the whole screen would go blank and then i wasn't able to see anything. I'd turn off the phone and leave it sitting there for a while and then try again and It worked fine excpet "invalid battery" would pop up and I wasn't able to see my battery level while i waited to get a new phone it just got more defective and would automatically put my calls on speaker and then echo and buzz when the call was on, and would never end it. I Would have to take the battery - and the sim card completely out to end just one call. I returned the phone to tmobile and they shipped me another one. Now a few days ago my phone was sitting in water and I wasn't aware of it until it started making noises and "insert sim" popped up. I opened the back of the phone and there was water leaked all inside of the back so i took everything out wiped it down and blow dryed the insides and it worked perfectly fine. A little later i put my phone down and went on with my buisness, Z3's are sliders so when my phone is slid down it locks automatically and when you touch it, the screen pops up and reminds you to unlock before you proceed. As my phone was sitting there i noticed it kept lighting up and the unlock reminder kept coming up like someone was touching it and no one was? I took everything out and dried it out again and it was working good then invalid battery popped up and now it wont go away and the phone repeatidly shuts itself off even if the battery is charged. Is anyone else having this problem? since i've had expeirence with these phones and neither has been very good I'm not sure if its the type of phone thats defective - since I read other post of people washing them in washers and it's working fine for them now, i don't see how a little water damage as to a full spin cycle wash could cause this much damage. I can get a new phone in three months, but i was wondering if there was any other way I can fix this until then?
