Hi there, I've just replaced my cracked screen to find its just blank white. Is this down to me damaging something or does it need rebooting? as my friend said as his screen went white and is now ok after he took it into shop

Usually this kind of work should be done by a qualified technician. Unfortunately you have decided to do that by yourself and you don't seem to have any luck. There are few possibilities, either the screen is a incompatible or bad one or you have demaged something as you said or just a mis-assembly of the phone. It is not a bad idea to send it to the shop for repair as your friend suggested. If you want a service manual for D500, you can check the following link:

Thanks for your help. When I asked at the o2 shop they wanted £170 to replace screen, which is why I attempted to fit the screen myself. The screen is supposed to be genuine samsung @ £31.99. Iv'e since found somewhere that will supply the screen for £50 or supply & fit for £65 so I might send it there & see what they say.
thanks

Was the phone working after the screen was cracked? If not, it is possible that there are other demages besides the screen.

Part of the screen was working, I could use the bottom line to scroll the address book & ring out ok. I'm not sure if the small ribbon at top of screem is pushed fully in. It was a tight fit pulling the old one out. Could this cause this problem?
thanks

When you said part of the screen was working, did you mean the old cracked display or the new one after replacement?
When you said that the small ribbon was very tight fit when you pull it out, did you visually inspect the ribbon and confirm that no demage was done? Did you also find it hard to push the ribbon back to the new screen? Is the ribbon looks very stronge or delicate one? I worry that the tightness may cause a demage to the ribbon when you pull or push the ribbon during assembly.
You may try moving the ribbon slightly and see if you see a difference. Poor connection will definitely cause the no display problem but it is not the only possible reason for no display.

It was the cracked screen that had part of it working & the ribbon on the cracked screen that was tight pulling out. I may have damaged the new ribbon trying to get it to go in. It is a tight fit & the ribbon is a delicate one.
thanks
