Ok I think I have finally figured out how to make the stupid program work. what you do is, you find the version of MOtorola Phone Tools that is easiest to find (----edited-----). Now, what you do if uninstall any drivers you might have for your phone. NOw you have to get your hands on the newest drivers for the phone, which i have saved from a time i actually was able to install the newest version of MPT. You can put ur email here and ill send it to you. NOw what you do is plug in the USB cable, restart your phone for good measure, and attach it to the cable. Your computer should recognize it as Motorola phone or something, Click the little thingy yo start your Add New Hardware thing. When it gives you the option of selecting whether to go online to get driver, select something like "No, just this time only do not go online, I will specify where driver is"
On the next screen where it says to select the driver select the sub-folder that is something like "USB Drivers Windows XP/2K", within ofocurse the folder that I will send to you. It should find the newest driver, (allow the installation when the pop-up for authencity comes up). Once this is done. Go ahead and install the MPT program, let it recognize your phone, and everything should be fine. Remeber wait till it stops saying "initalizing" before clicking on the Multimedia center.
Now some important tips.
1) Often MPT will screw up while transfering, (it also gets screwed up if transfer is interrupted by an incoming call and such). When this happens most likely MPT will not work again, in other words, ull be able to start up the program, intialize and everything, however when you go to the Multimedia center, it will not connect properly to the phone (you know the deal, the tabs are greyed out, and you cant see any of your files on the phome e.t.c).
When this happens there are two things you must do.
a) Exit MPT, Restart you phone, and reconnect the data cable, then try again
b) Or...find the installation file for MPT, and repair the installation. Usually that does the trick, and you can transfer again.
2) Sometimes MPT will be gay, and it will not recognize your phone at all (when you start up MPT, choose your profile, it will go to the New Phone screen where it asks you how you are connecting the phone).
When this happens, simply restart your phone and plug in the data cable
as before.
3) A quick way to double check if you phone is properly conencted is by going to Device Manager (Right Click on My Computer, go to the Devices section), then go under modems, and you should see Motrola USB or something like that. Double Click that, go to Diagnostics, click on Query Modem, and it should successfulyl query it (which means there will be a bunch of data showing, if its not successful then it says not connected or some error shows up). If not, you gota restart the phone, and get a stable connection again.
Lemme know if this works guys, so far it works for me.
Thanks. (-edited-).

MPT is not a freeware. Request for this software needs to stop. You all know where to get it and this is not the place!!
