they may or may not do a COAM (cust owned and maintained) activation... take whatever free phone and swap your simcard to the device you wanna use

hmm, I don't quite understand fully? I own a current phone, can I just take the card out of that one and stick it in? Or can I go to Rodgers, Telus or Bell and know 100% that i will be able to use the phone. Because I don't want to buy a $300 phone and get screwed.

If you have an active line of service with Rogers, then all you need to do is take the sim card out of your phone and put it in the MPx, like I posted above make sure that the phone is unlocked as Rogers doesnt have th MPx

okay, my current provider is telus, are you using rodgers as an example, like can I use rodgers, telus, bell or fido if I want. because I have a telus account now.
If I do have to have a rodgers account, can I just go down to the mall and get it set up?

your telus phone is CDMA...different technology...cant activate that on rogers or fido... they are GSM carriers

Okay, so rodgers for sure though right? I can just take it down to the store in the mall. I don't have a plan or anyhting with rodgers, so explain an example of what I might have to do if you would. I thank you very much for your help thus far, i appreciate it.

Ok, so if you want to activate a prepaid line go to store explain to them that you want to start a prepaid line. If you want to start a post paid (monthly charge) line then go to the store take the free phone put the sim in the MpX (Which NEEDS TO BE Unlocked, so make sure before you buy it is) and put the sim in the phone. Thats all there is to it.
