I am having a hard time getting the bluetooth to connect to my earpiece. What are the steps to doing that?

Depends on the type of bluetooth headset but for the most part this is how to do it:
1) Set the headset to pairing mode (for further instruction list model if needed)
2) On the phone: Menu>Tools>Connections>Bluetooth>Handsfree (allow to temporary power on)
3) Select look for devices and it should search and find the headset
4) Allow to bond and enter the default BT password which is 0000
After all is said and done headset will exit paring mode and connection is established, if you plan on using the headset a lot go to the settings and turn bluetooth on but if not switch it on and off manually to save battery life.
