Can anyone tell me how to get mp3s onto the phone, and then play them? I have a mini-sd memory card that seems to fit and get recognized, but files I copy to it from my computer aren't seen...
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Quotes from the forums:
"ok.. i gotta go do something.. so ill contiute my qutest when i return.. but.. so far.. you can either play files in two differnt directories.. one on the phone..a nd one on the card.. the media player says play file.. then asks where from.. either 16542/mf, or mmc1/media... so i add some mp3's to mf folder.. and they show up in the media player.. but they don't play.. they were just small clips.. maybe thats why.. maybe they have to be renamed to .mid.. dunno.. i put a folder on my mini sd card.. named media.. and put mp3s in that.. but they don't show up.. perhaps like the ringtone thing some other file has to be deleted first tthat prevents you from playing the files.."
"The mp3s on the sd card have to be renamed to .mid AND the file length (name) has to be short, if its too long the file doesnt show up.I got my mp3s to work perfectly this way but with no media player you have to select each song and if you touch any buttons or close the phone it shuts off the song.
The mp3s dont show up in the media player on the card so im still trying to figure this out."
All you need to do is put the mp3 in the 16542/mf/ folder. Before you do this you need to rename them .mid. Just rename, no need to convert or anything just rename. Tell me if that works.

i contacted verizon and the said this: " We apologize but the LG VX8100 is not enabled to use the integrated
MP3 player. You therefore cannot listen/play MP3 music on this device. "

I just got the LG VX8100 today and I was talking to the Verizon guy and he said in about a month or so you can go take your phone to go get it flashed to upgrade the firmware that adds a media player for mp3's. I will belive it when i see it, but for the mean time I guess I will wait.

I'm new to this whole phone/mp3 player thing, so I need a little help. From what I have read here, the 8100 WILL play mp3s as long as you rename the file extensions, correct?
Additionally, the only way to use the mp3 player on the 8100 is to save your mp3s (after renaming them) to a mini sd card which, when inserted into the 8100, magically makes the otherwise invisivble mp3 player appear ( wow, MAGIC!!!)?
Now the new-guy question: What kind of cords/adapters do I need to xfer mp3s from my computer to my mini sd and/or 8100?
