Okay, My phone, I just got it the other day, and when I heard the UPS truck here, and i ran outside as fast i could, and I got my phone, i came in and i activatd it, I was so happy. Now I am bored with it already. I have a boyfriend that just left me, and now were just friends, I usually fall asleep with him, over the phone because he lives in NJ i live in Maine. I want to take pictures for him, but i dont know how to open the EasyEdge application cateloge. Whenever it says "connnecting" and it shows a little mobile phone, it always says "Cant retrieve easyedge application cateloge at this moment, try again later" And it never works, i have tryed 1000 times.... Someone please help me, and information is greatly appriciaeted. -Amanda- [/i]

Really? I'm having a similar problem... none of my data functions work anymore (try sending a picture message, for example, and it says "Network authentication failed"), and I now seem to be limited to single-part text messages (no more 1/7 indicator in the corner of writing a text) which still cut off if they're too long!
I'd really like some help with this. Verizon is less than helpful. I've got a data cable and I use BitPim to retreive my downloaded pictures and upload MP3s and ringtones... but it IS a phone, and it sucks to have so many features (that I'm paying for) not usable!
Verizon made up some crap about "water damage" to the phone (there was no such thing). I wonder how many other people they do that crap to.

Thanks for the great replies, everyone! This must be a really rich, vibrant forum full of great professionals and like-minded individuals, considering the vx6100's popularity (one in almost everyone's hands now).
I'll definately keep this forum in mind next time my all too common vx6100 has a problem! Glad I could get my phone fucksd, er, I mean fixed... after all, who could live without data and enhanced messaging capabilities these days?

well that attitude is gonna get you nowhere at all either, both of you tried going to your service provider and seeing if data capabilities is on your contract? make sure you have that ability. if they say you have it, then tell them your situation, if they say the same garbage about water damage or any other lame ass excuse, ask to talk to a manager. then they know your serious and will help you...and last....have them operate your phone to try and send out a pic or something, so they can see exactly what happens....do NOT leave until the problem is solved...if the problem persists, and they don not fix it, ask for another phone, if you bitch enough, you will get your phone working or get a phone that does work. but from what i can tell, it's a service problem, not the phone, so either it is not activated on your phones, or your in a dead zone.

I spent a whole day at the Verizon place (actually, going back and forth, had stuff to do throughout the day and they said they'll "try fixing it"). Basically, I hadn't bought insurance on the phone - assuming it'd be just as reliable as the other phones I've owned - so I was S.O.L. for having it replaced.
The dead giveaway for a phone hardware problem was that my text messaging no longer gave me a "1/7" (typing message part 1 of 7 possible) indicator while writing a text message. It usually says "Msg(159) 1/7" in the upper part of the screen to indicate how many characters remaining in the current segment (before sending a 2-7 part message), but now says "Message(159)", and "runs out" of space when that area is full.
All these functions - data, pictures, messaging - used to work, until a few weeks after I bought it. Spent a few hours on 611's tech support, reprogramming my phone with service parameters, resetting my account, everything possible... to no avail.
Anyway, back to the Verizon place. A few people tried working on it, they even kept the phone overnight (that was a fiasco - I rely on my cell phone quite a bit), and every time I came in, the person working with it said their diagnostic system wouldn't even recognize the phone was plugged in. I gave them the OK a few times to wipe all my data and "format" the phone (thinking it was a software problem), but still, nothing.
I still wonder why I'm able to use my phone data cable to access the entire file system and load/unload files as I see fit, but their system doesn't even recognize the phone. That's kinda fishy.
Then again, I had to have seen at least 6 or 7 other VX6100s in that store that day... they seem to have a lot of these!

if they offer another phone, may i suggest the 8100, that phone is unreal! it's an excellent phone, you can also go with the 7000, and 8000, but the 8100 is better, and slimmer. if they offer the same phone back, you can argue and maybe get an upgrade, saying something about how you do not trust the 6100's and would like to try another phone, but if you really like the 6100, then by all means get a new one... insurance is still going to charge you 50$, and thats the cost of the phone anyway nowadays, so you are almost better off getting a newer phone model. good luck
