I currently have a LG4500 phone. Where I live is a fringe area for Verizon (and all other carriers) and I get a lot of dropped calls when I am in my house. I know this is a loaded question, but is there a better phone as far as reception is concerned? Verizon says the phone does not matter but I know it does. I had a Motorola a couple of phones ago and did not have dropped calls. Just want people's opinion. I cannot use a camera phone because of where I work.
Thanks for the help

hi beetle.
I have a friend who has an LG phone and gets no reception in her new house at all. Her daughter has a motorola phone and gets reception in all areas of the house. I also have a motorola (v710) while visiting my friend, I get great reception. So, it does matter what phone you use. Verizon gives you 14 or 15 days in which you can return a phone. I would suggest you try a phone and if it doesn't work, return it during the 14 or 15 day grace period. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. I had a Motorola V60S at one time and like it. I like the looks of your phone but I can't use a camera phone at work. I am looking at the V65p.
I went to Verizon yesterday and complained. I have had this phone for about 2 months so they are not ready to exchange phones. They did give me a new LG4500 to try (they said I could have a bad phone) but I get very little reception. I will see if they will give me a V65p.
Thanks again.

If the LG4500 will not work I would suggest a Motorola 710 or even the Motorola V265 (usually cheaper). If you had good service previously using an older phone but now you dont with the new one your local tech can sometimes solve the problem. He can copy the tower settings on the old phone (if you still have it) to your new phone. It may even work for your LG4500.

Because your on the fringe, you want a Tr-Mode phone. Whewn yout digital signal wavers, you will still be able to get something of an analog signal. This usually seems to be an improvement for people in those type of areas. The phone you have not is all digital and when signal wavers a bit, may just drop like you said. Try a Tri-Mode, if you don't like it, use the 15 day Worry Free Guaranty to return it (if you get it from a direct corp store).

I ended out getting a Motorola V65P. It has better reception without pulling out the attenna than my LG had.

hi people;... he can't have a camera! looks like the v65p is your best option. although, you can always get an older verizon phone on ebay. the Moto T720 & V60's were SOLID phones! Check it out! Beware on ebay tho, don't buy anything until you request the ESN from the person and call verizon to check the ESN. Especially for the v60 because every carrier had that phone. It was eventually made GSM, TDMA, and CDMA.

and especially since the early v60 even a Verizon v60, doesn't have GPS so verizon won't allow it on the network, has to be gps/e911

Phone Model: Motorola T730

I currently have am using a Motorola T730 which is an Asurion replacement for my Nokia 3589i which I had to replace after the LCD was cracked after dropping it for the thousandth' time.
My two year $100 phone update credit isn't due for another 5 months so I thought I'd pay full pop for the newest and greatest and bought a Treo 650. I loved it but couldn't get the reception that I could with the tri-band 3589i. As a result of the poor reception in my rural area, I traded it in for what was supposed to be the 'best' tri-band, according to the Verizon staff, which is the LG 6100. I really liked the speaker phone feature as well as the phone book, the problem was similar poor reception.
At this point I decided just to use my phone insurance and replace the simple old tri-band that had given me stellar service/reception. Problem was Asurion no longer had a 3589i to send out. Instead I received the Motorola T730.
I've had it one day and am thinking of giving it to my main squeeze and finding an old 3589i online. I'm interested if anyone has used the 3589i and knows of a better tri-band phone that I should consider prior to finding a replacement?
Thanks,
Carl
