I have a samsung x426 (rev 1.6). I am trying to unlock. Do I need to "flash" or do I need to use unlocking software...or do I need to do both. Not quiet sure what flashing is????? Sorry...I'm not used to the terms. Help...Please!

Flashing is procedure that changes the phones firmware (like OS for phone). You need cable and Cerebros to unlock that model. Sticky on Samsung forum will help you with that.

Also, I have a usb cable...will that work...do I need to download driver????

No you do not need to Flash, you need to buy a cable, if you get the USB then you will need to download the USB to serial driver, I would recommened that you just buy the Serial Cable with the d/l and data switch (PCB093LBE)

Can the cable be purchased somewhere besides online?
I got a little nervous when I "attempted" to download a driver. I realized how little I know. I can usually figure things out...but now I'm wondering if I should just send it to someone to have it done.......any thoughts???
