Hey, Wondering if anyone has help/ names of programs/suggestions or anything that might be useful. I own a SGH-E638 phone and want to be able to access the downloads folder to add and remove java games. My old nokia it was a piece of cake, but do i need to reflash my phone? And can it even be done through Irda?
Thanks

Marshes

*update* I have followed http://315.fiberworld.nl/d500/ this method which seems to almost work. He uses bluetooth and has a solid connection where as i have irda and can only bridge a connection with pims manager running in the background. I opened the serial for java on my phone then created a PPP UP but when selecting that my phone reboots. Any thoughts? I have also tried using softick PPP to create a network connection with my phone through irda but have failed every time.

Has anyone java'ed up a E638 phone???

Check this one for more reference:

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=88458&r=a

However if your phone can't enter serial java mode by entering the following code:

17) From the main screen of your phone, enter #*536963# and you should see on your screen “Serial JAVA others disable”

Then it means that your phone doesn't support this function.

Hope it works for you, good luck!

Just to know if your IrDA works with your phone. Can you upload ringtone and pictures to your phone using IrDA and PIMS? Also, can you download photos from your phone to your PC?

i read on another site that with the D500 it may not work if proxy settings on the phone are enabled but mine appear to not be on/configured so im not sure what the problem is but i think it is safe to say it is some setting on the phone, because it will crash in serial mode every single time i go to ppp up

Did you check the post from D500 GURU in the link I provided earlier, it mentioned:

"If you do see the progress bar but the phone freezes for a couple of seconds and then it reboots itself, it may mean that the connection is all right, but the Softick PPP is not actived or your device is not ticked in settings. "

Go through the steps in D500 GURU's post and make sure you read the part More Details ... For IR users.

Yah I did that but my IRDA is on a dongle so it doesnt pick up on softick, so I connected with pims. I read somewhere that it is due to proxy settings on my phone being enabled but I have mine dissabled so im not sure i can do it with my computer set up.

When you say it doesn't pick up on Softick, did you mean that IrDA is not available in Softick Settings -> Options?
