Highlight the song and hit Menu>Apply as ringtone and that should do it. Or go through the audio settings and apply it that way.

According to the specs its runnable for mp3 ringtones. If yours are not working however thats a really strange problem. Try downloading or uploading another mp3 ringer, or reboot the phone.

when u say "reboot" the phone, what do u mean by that
master clear? master reset?

Reboot means just turn off and turn back on. Sometimes it will mean turn off remove battery for a min re-insert and power back up. But its not that long to need a guide. All it is, you cut the ringtone down how you want it, you use MPT to upload it into the phone. Then you should be able to check the sounds menu and it should show up in there.

yeah i was just wondering if a master clear or something on my phone would help my ringtone problem
it seems that alltel has placed some sort of block on the phone to not play uploaded mp3s or .mp3 renamed to .mid, so i was wondering if a reset would fix this problem

Well if you rename a file to .mid without actually converting it thats a corrupt file. It's not supposed to be done that way, an extension tells the program what file it is. By renaming a .mp3 to .mid its telling the program your playing a .mid, but in reality it is still an .mp3.
