I'm about to get my Motorola V551 in a couple of days and I was wondering... Is there any way to have IMs via bluetooth?

Yeah well, I'm thinking about like... Those times that you are in some boring class and can't talk because your teacher is the icon_devil.gif then, you could just use bluetooth to talk. I would text message but I don't have a text messaging plan and I'm not in charge of the account. And the person that is in charge of the account doesn't like it when I text message... so, could someone help me out?

Not sure about IMing, but there IS a way to send messages via BT, I do it all the time.

You can BT contacts. What you have to do is, send your message as a contact.

Go to address book/new entry. Write your message in the NAME slot. Not sure how many characters you can enter, but I always use short messages. I tried to do it without entering a phone number, but you have to put a phone number in, just make one up.

Once the new entry is finished, highlight the entry in your address book. Tap MENU and then scroll to SEND and tap SELECT.

Now you are at the Object Exchange page. Choose a device you've already paired with before, or else choose LOOK FOR DEVICES. This will find all devices within range-- my phone's record is 19 devices in range. Pick the device you want to send the message to.

Very easy, once you get the hang of it.

I wasn't sure if it was OK to mention 'bluejack,' but yah, just like bluejacking.

...and passing notes would be easier and faster, except as someone mentioned, BT is more stealthy.
