I am asking for a friend... he has a nokia 6170, just got it from ebay a few weeks ago. he had the t-mobile store unlcok it for him, but the phone keeps asking for a security code now, and the store tells him it is not their problem. He can't return it, as it needs this code to work, so does anyone know what this security code is.
is it just the SIM security code, or something else. PLEASE HELP!

The default Security Code is 12345 (mentioned in the manual).

That is the security code for unlocking it wrong?? I would just try it but the store guy said not to put anything in unless he was sure it would work. as long as it is the same code it is worth a try right?

A code after unlocking?! I don't get it...
The exact words what the phone is asking would be nice to identify what it wants.

In that case it is the security code.
Try 12345 - if it doesn't work: ask the ebay-guy
The only way to get around the security code is by knowing it...
Otherwise you might take it back to the T-Mobile guys and let them flash a new firmware on the phone, this resets the security code to 12345.
But I guess they already have done that.

THANKS! I called my friend and told him to put in the 12345, and he said it is working. it sounds like all it was was the 12345 security code and it worked! Thanks for your help. I am sure he is glad to have that phone working!
