I have been using the V710, but I also have a VX6100 that i feel picks up somewhat beter than the 710. I dont really care about all the bells and whistles that the 710 has. I just care about having a camera and a phone that picks up where ever i am. Has any one else experianced this difference in reception or is it just my imagination?

The 6100 RF performance is not good at all. If you mean the LG is showing a better bar read out, thats crap, LG phones strech what is really there, so if your V710 shows only 2 bars, and your LG shows 5-6 the Moto more correct read out then your LG. BTW The 710 is the best reception phone on Verizons line up, well it was, now the best is the e815

on the 710 when i get in fringe areas, it takes longer to switch off to extended coverage. It will just sit there and show 1 bar of verizon coverage and not make or receive calls until i go in and manually put it on analog. On the other hand the 6100 seems to switch off to extended CDMA or anolog coverage more simply. Another thing i have noticed about the 710 is that once it does go extended it constantly switches back to 1 bar of verizon coverage; which of course makes it so that I cant make or receive calls until i make it analog again. And even then the 710 only stays analog for one call, whereas the 6100 has a anlog mode that you can manually turn on.

I just got a 6100 to replace my StarTAC and I don't think it works as well, I don't think I get signal in places I used to with the old phone and I don't think the sound quality is nearly as good and I miss the sidetone in the MOTO

What do you mean sidetone? I agree about the voice quality; it leaves a little to be desired for. Although its not that bad.

Just curious why you say this, not trying to flame or anything but when I was able to make a couple of test calls from a Verizon store comparing the v265 and E815. My called party said the v265 sounded much better. I suspect they are different chip sets since the e815 is all digital. Havn't been ble to find a live v710 to compare but I want to get rid of my vx6100 while I'm still inthe 15 days

What i mean by extended coverage is when your phone get in an area without any Verizon towers and either starts running off another companies CDMA tower or in a tri mode phones case starts running off Amps (Analog). If your phone is in extended area it will say so and you wont be able to access the internet or flix/pix message.

sidetone is the attenuated sound of the phone user's voice fed back into the earpiece so they
1) have confidence that the equipment is working
2) know how loud the are talking
allmost all regualre land line phones have it, the motorola phones and the kyocera's I tried have it. The (Verizon) Samsungs and LGs that I've tried do not.

Most of the LG phones that I have tested have great picture quality.
As for the v710. Ive used about 3 of these phones and they ALL have the indoor camera problem. On my phone the camera is so great. Indoor or outdoor.
So its true? LG stretches out its bars.
