Here at ATT we have the same policy.
My brother works w/Verizon, in a CDMA compatible country, same thing happens. Please don't make up excuses (as I used to have Tmo)
When I went Germany, I had my phone on - I didn't make any calls - someone calls me, I don't answer, goes to voicemail, I get charged for roaming CALLS in Germany. Same thing happens with my ATT service. As far as I know, every company in the US has similar policies. |
I am not making up excuses. I know what I am talking about. I deal with this on a daily bases.

As do I. You say you know, but it doesn't sound like you do considering that this has been happening for AT LEAST 2+ years - hardly see as this a "billing error". And all of that stuff in Germany happened to me when I had T-Mobile - and like I said, SHOCKER, same thing happens when I use my ATT service.

I recently went to Toronto Canada for a vacation and got a $500 bill from TMobile / Rogers (as international parter)! And the $500 charge was for Internet roaming charge that I did not even use at all! I called Customer Service and said that there's a setting on the phone (which is Sidekick 3) where it will automatically connect to a network or something. But the whole point is THAT I DID NOT USE THE INTERNET WHILE I WAS IN CANADA! They transferred me to another dept telling me that they'll give me $100 credit for it with a 1yr contract . which is totally BULLLSHIIIEEET! I will call them one more time . but basically i would like to report this to the FCC and to BBB because they did not even take the time to investigate the problem and to give me details about the charge. I would like for them to show me what that 40MB of internet usage entails -- that i did not even use! If you encounter the same scenario please email me and let me know.

if your sidekick was turned on while you were in canada it used data. Even if you don't touch it, it sends a lot of info over the internet in the background so those charges really aren't that crazy.
