Well if someone wants to take over your account then you do not have to pay the ETF and they do not have to pay an activation fee. You get out of the contract without pelanty and they dont have to pay to start a new line.

With Sprint/Nextel, if you do a Transfer of Liability (COR), the person who takes over the old account may have to be responsible for paying a deposit depending on their credit history with the credit bureaus.

Yes I believe with every carrier the potential customer has to qualify for service based on a credit evaluation.

Back to the moving out of service area thing....With Verizon you will be let you out of your contract, but the way they do it is bill the ETF to you first and then once you provide us documentation (copy of lease/mortgage, utility bill, ect) then it will be credited back.

As of July of 2005 the Early Term Fees for the major US wireless carriers are as follows:
Cingular - $150
Nextel - $200
Sprint - $150
TMobile - $200
Verizon - $175

why are they so high? what does the fee go towards? i've never understood this, I paid allsuck (alltel) $200 to get out of my contract to go to cingular.
