Verizon - $175 |
why are they so high? what does the fee go towards? i've never understood this, I paid allsuck (alltel) $200 to get out of my contract to go to cingular. |
it goes to the company that provides service...
in effect you agreed to maintain a service account with said company for a specified period of time...if you leave that provider one of the clauses in the service contract is the early termination fee...it protects the profits of that company

Mainly because they subsidized a phone for you upon activation and they rely on you to maintain service for atleast the entire agreement to see a return on that investment. If you do not the ETF, like elmo said it to protect the profits of the the service provider.

I'm looking for some advice here...how can I get rid of VerizonWireless w/o paying the stupid EFT? I hear that there's new changes to the agreement, i.e., an "administrative fee" and what not.
HELP! I want out of VZW. Their customer service reps are horrible. No interpersonal skills.

IF you know someone that will take over your line of service they will waive the ETF for you, thats the only advise that im going to give out to avoid the ETF.

Ok this is the first I've heard of Verizon Reps being horrible. Where I'm at everyone wants to go work at Verizon because they pay better and have better employee relations. As a result the tend to give better customer service. They also consistently out rank Cingular in most independent surveys.
Are you sure that it's not a cultural thing of some kind? Like North versus South. Most people in the South are used to a slower paced call and friendly neighborly tone? Most people in the north are quick, curt, to the point. Not necessarily rude, but many southerners interpret it that way?
Please no bashing on the generalizations there. I talk with people from every part of the country every day, as many of you do. So I'm sure I'm not the only one that has noticed this difference in styles of service.

it all depends on who you get. it's the same with cingular.
I find it's the same with canada. I grew up around vancouver and it was much faster-paced than the east coast, and east coast people are generally much friendlier to strangers.

I have actually seen notes on an account from Tier II tech stating to waive the ETF because the customer was in an area that had NO coverage (Blue, Orange, or Partner).
