I have an account established 3 years ago in Amarillo and have move to Arkansas this year. My problem is with my voice mail being delayed. I will check my VM daily and have none. Then I will receive VM dated up to 2 weeks prior to my checks.
The wife contacted Cingular and was told that it is because we are out of the Amarillo area. They suggested that we change phone #'s. For business purposes I'd prefer not to do that.
I spend 7 to 8 months a year on the road and have noticed a lag but not as lengthy as it is now.
Do you have any ideas that might help?

Joe, I apologize for getting this late.

A relocation works best in this scenario. If it's definately not a way you wanna go, there just may be delayed messages.

1. Your SIM is programmed with your home area in mind. With that, also comes what we call a voicemail pilot number. This is the number stored in your phone to the voicemail system.

2. With a new SIM in the ARK area, you won't have this lagginess.

Basically the voicemail systems are used and maintained by other companies. Nortel, Octel, etc.

What I recommend is that you powercycle your phone frequently, (off and on but wait at least 10 mins between powering it on) and have Customer Care send you OTA's and update your roaming profiles. If you ask for this specifically, if the rep is worth a damn, (pardon my french) they'll know what to do.

Let me make up a 2nd email address for just this board where we can exchange some info and i'll check on what I can do from my end. Because you're from Amarillo, I should be able to access your account without a problem. We'll discuss this further.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to hearing from you. I understand that not relocating will entail some difficulty. However if there is a "workaround" I need to keep this number till Spring.

There should be Joe. There will be some latency in getting messages.

Best thing for me to do tomorrow is look at your account after I create another email, (I don't wish to publish my personal email or work email) and make sure you have all the updated profiles available to you.

Periodically check from your home phone or another mobile by calling your cell phone and pressing the # key during your greeting.

There shouldn't be any difference in timing but it wouldn't hurt to check occasionally to see if there are messages that you haven't recieved notification of.

Will do Samsung.

Joe, I took care of what I could here. You're stilll gunna see some latency in your vmails, but that's to be expected.

At least once a day, please powercycle your phone. (Leave it off for about 10 mins)

Hi TexasCSR,

I moved to a small town in FL about 3 months ago. I subscribed to Cingular cell phone plan about 2 months ago. One of the reasons I picked Cingular is the "Unlimited M2M". When I got my bill, I found out that M2M is NOT actually unlimited. Whenever I call another cingular/att phone at night and weekend, my night and weekend (N&W) minutes get depleted. I talked to CSR and discussed my bill with her. She explained to me that even though the bill is noted "w", my N&W minutes has not been depleted. I did my own investigation by examined my 14 pages of phone bill and prove that the CSR was wrong. My N&W minutes HAD been depleted. I talked to another CSR and she told me that if I am worried about going over my minutes, then I should pay $10 more to upgrade to unlimited N&W. I told her, why do I have to pay extra for Cingular mistake by not doing accounting right in the first place?

I believe that this is a false advertizing and a bait-and-switch case that Cingular pulls one over their customers. I wish cingular stops advertizing "unlimited M2M" if they don't intend to honor what they advertize.

I am thinking about filing a complaint with the FTC and the FCC regarding this issue if cingular does not fix this accounting error or stop the advertizing "unlimited M2M".

By the way, around my home, the signal strength is nearly NONE. Sometimes my calls are dropped and sometimes the reception is so bad that I can't hear what the other party is saying or the other party could not understand what I said.
