Your can protect white dot with clear tape.
It can save your warranty.

I have a phone that I dropped in water, my carrier basically told me I was screwed and would need a new phone. I took it to a cellular repair store and they charged my $25 bucks to do a deep cleaning on the phone. Before they cleaned it...it wouldn't hold a charge and the reception was bad. Now it works great! No problems at all!! They also told me that I can bring it back for up to 3 months, if anyhting goes wrong. They also said that these cleanings are great for any phone, even if it is working fine. Good Luck! icon_clover.gif

I'm just reading along here, and I noticed that alot of members mentioned a red dot on the back of the battery to indicate that a phone has been damaged by water if it shows up.

I have a sony Ericsson K750i and today was at the beach and got careless, with my back turned a big wave just splashed all over my jeans with phone inside. I had my friends phone too but her Nokia seemed to be ok. My phone went blank screened, and I guess I didnt know it was still on, so I left it as such, the phone must have been operating under watered down conditions, it also has a cheap plastic casing over it. Brought it home realized it was on so i turned it off. And blow dried the outside, and let the inside air dry. Now I turn it on and all I can see is a white lcd screen, if tilted I can vaguely make out whats going on with my menus.

The battery/headpiece wont take a charge/get connected either, maybe the phone's charge accepter? is fried, well not really, I tried jiggling the charger into my phone and it will go on and off out of no where but wont stay charged. I hope that describes my situation fairly well.

My question is that I see a white sticker on my battery and its completely white, no red at all. Would that mean that my warranty is still good if I gave my phone company a call?

I have T-Mobile, and they've been fairly good with me when I had my Sidekick go out on me (not for water issues) I dont have insurance, so wouldnt they be able to run a symptoms diagnosis and figure out it was water damage anyway even if the white sticker is still white on the battery? What do you guys think, salvagable phone?

Not every white sticker is an liquid damage indicator, and there is usually more then one even if it were. Typically if you turn it off and remove the battery for several days then the phone may work again, if you leave it on or turn it on immediately you usually short out the motherboard. And as a warning, leaving the phone in your car in the winter and then bringing it inside is enough to change the liquid damage indicators to a different color.

As well as Cingular. It is odd though, the company the handles Insurance for Cingular (Lock/Line) will cover water damage for thier customers but not for Verizon customers, who also uses Lock/Line.

I know this thread is a bit old, but for those who come across it in a search as I did, I just want you to know that I got this from Verizon in an email about insurance:

"Wireless Phone Protection protects your phone in cases of theft, loss, physical damage, liquid damage, and corrosion. This would allow you to replace your equipment with a $50.00 deductible at any time, as long as the feature is on this wireless number."

I accidently washed my son's RAZR in the washing machine. icon_frown.gif My son tried using it right away. Then I removed the battery and let it set for a few days. Everthing works fine, EXCEPT the person you are calling cannot hear you speaking. Any ideas?
