ugh, ive had the phone for under a month, i pull it out the other night and suddenly the only key on the keypad that works is the on and off switch~!! This has to be a defect, and i don't know rather to go through Motorola or my providor (cingular) for a replacement, any ideas thoughts suggestions? ANYTHING, a fix would be great too

remove battery, reinsert. If nothing is different call service provider and get replacement.

Oh p.s. check for water damage too, circular sticker underneath the battery. Red is water damaged and voided warranty, white is no water damage.

Same thing here.
Only button working is the on/off.

Iīve got the damn same problem myself - it almost seems to be a quite commom problem with the V3???
For me the whole deal started with the buttons on the sides of the clamshell lid / screen just not working... And then when I restarted the phone I couldnīt enter my PIN-code since the only button that seems to work now is the on/off-button...
Isnīt there any way to "bypass" the key input on the V3, like for instance somehow using the USB-cable and the mobile PhoneTools software that came with the phone?
I just need to make a backup copy of my phonebook to my computer first, then I can swing by my dealer and get a replacement phone...
But I do NEED that backup since Iīve been a big enough dummy not to save my phonebook to my SIM or using the backup tool earlier...

i read an article its a defect with some of the phones, caused by your problems, the "UP" side key gets messed up, and then locks up ALL of the keys, im getting a replacement tommarow, its the only solution....try to have your dealer print the numbers off the phone, if you use a USB hookup you should still be able to pull them off, then put them back on....for you guys that have had it longer then a warrenty, just try anyway its a known manufactures defect

Thanks for the clarification there...
But my main problem still exist - how the heck am I going to get the phonebook and photos of my V3 since I canīt enter the PIN upon restarting the phone? Is there perhaps some way that I can edit one of the seems to turn of the "enter PIN"-prompter???

try buying a USB cable, or take it to your store, they were able to pull the numbers off mine with their in-house software (whatever it is) maybe you will have the same luck?
