There's alot to options out there when it comes cellular service. I preferre the GSM (T-mobile and Cingular) network rather than verizon's CDMA.

You might consider pointing out that you paid two activation fees when you opened your family share account and you would have to pay two early termination fees if you cancelled during the contract. Yeah .. those are good points. Paying the activation fee and having to worry abou the early termination for both should count toward the new every two as well. |
Pardon me whilst I scratch my head. 'Worry about termination fees' counting towards a discount. Truely, I don't intend to be rude but...Why would that count towards a discount?
Understand that other carriers charge termination fees on share lines and doing so has no material affect on what future discounts are charged. Also, all carriers charge activation fees of varying amounts. Still, it is not used as a reason to affect the amount of a discount.
I need to make sure that this is perfectly clear:
After two years, every line, regardless if it's a shareplan, gets a discount. Just like other carriers, any line that fulfills a contract gets the standard discount. As a bonus, any line over $35.00 gets an extra $100.00.
What is being complained about here is not getting something extra. I've seen references to how it all skews to 'Verizon's advantage. Why? Because Verizon isn't going to give something extra on all lines.
If Verizon were not giving any discount on a shareline after the agreement was fulfilled...Then I think you have a legitimate point. This is not the case as Verizon is offering discounts on equipment on all lines regardless of value on the shareplans.
It appears that the complaint is that Verizon must be compelled to give something extra on all lines regardless of whether or not it appears economically feasable.
It is an odd comlaint that puts Verizon in a position of being a bad guy despite the fact that Verizon hasn't done anything bad. No person is being denied anything the shouldn't be. It is Terms and Conditions and a term of the NE2, line value.
I am sorry for the rant but it is very frustrating to see complaints of this nature. In so many parts of life, you hear 'restrictions may apply' and it can be for pizza specials or buying cars and people accept that this is the case after an advertised offer. However, in cellular, if it ain't free, the carrier must be stealing.
Very frustrating.

Again, my rant is that no where, but no where in the salesman's in-store pitch, nor the in-store advertising, nor their daily newspaper ads touting their current phones and their new every two deal does Verizon say ONLY GOOD ON PRIMARY PHONE ON THE ACCOUNT!!
They tout New Every Two, lock you into a two-year contract, and when you go into exchange your phone or use what you were told was a $100 credit you are told - oops! You need to read this 8 point type on the back of the agreement that says additional phones on a Family Plan are not entitled to the New Every Two offer.
I went into the store a month before my anniversary, told the salesman which phone I was interested in, gave him my phone number, and he told me to come back in one month later when I would be eligible. I came back in one month later, and was told a different story than the month before.
Yes, Verizon does have this information now on their website if you look hard enough to find it. And YES, Verizon's salespeople need to be better trained and more honest with their customers.
Some good will for long time customers should be displayed. This is the type of legal but misleading agreement that makes customers leave for a competitor. Churn baby, churn! (And that is a cost of business that no carrier should want to increase.)
My Suggestion? If you are now considering Verizon in part because of their New Every Two offer, then ask LOTS of questions, and get everything in writing!!

I just saw a full page VZW ad in yesterday's paper and at the bottom of the ad it said in bold print "Get $100 towards the cost of a new phone every 2 years on lines $34.99 and above I know all the print and advertising does talk about the $34.99 clause. I don't doubt that the sales guy didn't mention it though.
But this is besides the point. The guys in the stores are bound by the rules. They can't give you NE2 discount unless you're eligible for it. CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Don't call them just to complain, but tell them that you're willing to sign the new contract with it and unless you're looking at a really expensive phone, most of the reps will give you the same discount as a "Customer Satisfaction/retention" discount. They just won't call it the "New Every Two" credit. The only downside is that it take a couple days to ship out. But hey, a couple days might be worth $100!

I guess my main complaint is that I'm paying $69.99 on two lines (family share plan) - but it's billed as $60 for the primary line and $9.99 for the second - so they arrange it so that only one phone would get the free phone. Seems to me they could offer two.
Granted once you get past that, it's a bit much.

The share line pricing does not exist for thatreason. It is a competitive price point positioning for multi-line customer that net greater per line service fee savings.
example: where once a 400 minute main line was 39.99 and each share was 20.00 - now, the primary is 450 mins at 50.00 and each share would be 9.99.
So, the first two lines are the same cost no matter what, both versions being 59.99 for 2 lines. However, once you add that 3rd phone....you save 10.00 from the previous plan versions and you get more minutes. So, for any additional lines, you save that much more than you had previously.
The obvious intent is to encourage getting more lines per account. It is a marketing strategy. pretty much all carriers work under nearly the same premise.
It really is not at all part of the NE2 discount strategy. Sine the NE2 is a bonus above the standard and established discount, the reference is only the value of the line that can get that discount.
I've already stated a psotion on that last part and the evident outcome is that it does not meet your satisfaction so I will not pursue that avenue of discussion at this point.

Umm.. yeah .. I get that.
My point is only that they COULD offer NE2 on the first two lines of the plan - since that's the plan I signed up for. I didn't sign up for one line, and then added additional lines on to my plan.
But yes, it is a bonus on top of others, but just seems that since I need 2 lines to get the family plan, they COULD offer NE2 for the first two.

Note that Verizon Wireless is the only service provider that offers the New Every Two Program.
Also cheap phones, cheap calling plan but how is your service? It is a known fact that Verizon Wireless does have the largest coverage area in the US.

Also on the secondary lines Verizon also offers bogo offers some at the point of sale and some after rebate. Also an early upgrade option is available on lines that have a monthly service charge of $59.99 or higher after 1 year.
At least there are other options but like any other contract EVERYONE should always read the fine print, bold print etc...bottom line everything ask questions to get your answers. Read the Worry Free Guarantee brochure. Every Cellular company has it ups and down I have yet to see perfect cellular provider. But I will stay with what service works for me.

tell you'll get rid of your sevice if they don't honur their promise, my mom kinda did the same thing with cingular. She had to switch the billing back to her name and they lock you into a new contract and she told the person if it affected the upgrades she would cancel the service because they screwed her once when the billing was changed and she made sure it wasnt gonna happen again.
