with all the comparisons i have looked at, not one compares the quality of the actual reception on these phones. my problem arises from being on pay as you go, which both worked fine. when our phones were upgraded i got a Motorola C343 , and hubby updated to another nokia 3589i. his worked, mine didn't. because it took longer than the 15 days allowed to discover how bad this phone was i was unable to exchange it for a whole year. since july i have attempted to resolve this by upgrading again. i was sent a samsung A650. this is proving no better than the motorola. in addition it is working so hard to pick up a signal that the phone becomes too warm to hold against my face. (hubby's phone still works fine.) verizon and nokia have now parted company and verizon has no nokia's left in stock. i am unable to buy direct from nokia as they will now only deal with T mobile, and cingular. SO can someone please tell me
1) why the nokias work so much better?
2) what other phone has an equivalent reception?

Actually, you may want to get the Samsung in for warranty work. It is a pretty good phone and if it's heating up, then battery is getting over-exherted and usually means a problem. Once you get that resolved, you should have great service. Heating issues are definately warranty issue that can be resolved at the store.
The Motorola....not so great of a phone and Motorola had a time where they were churning out some pretty dodgy stuff...the C343 came out during that time.
Hope that helps.

OK first we got 2 LG vx6100. I did a bunch of tests, holding the vx6100 next to my StarTAC as I go in and out of the NYC subways. The StarTAC would always get and hold a signal better than the LG so I traded my LG in for a Motorola v710. the v710 is gets signal where the StarTAC doesn't mostly I think because it uses the 1X network.

Maybe where you are you need a digital signal i know the samung was tri-mode but im not sure of the motorola. Try buying an all digital phone like the Audiovox CDM-8910 or CDM-8940. Although scince you are on prepay this may not work. How bout switching to virgin mobile they have the cdm-8910 under prepay.

thanks for the replies guys. cant switch to virgin, as much as i would like to, as they don't operate here. i am getting another nokia from radio shack this afternoon, and verizon are going to refund me some more money to cover it (more or less) so hopefully the problem will resolve its self. once again thanks and much aloha from the islands.
