Hi guys, some advice if possible.

Firstly, I'm in the UK using a locked, PAYG Orange phone.

From your tutorial, I knew I needed to upgrade my firmware (to 8.23 from the link in the first page), so have just done so.

All seemed to go well, however the keypad was locked out, post-flash. So after a small period of unexpected cardiovascular activity, I found the fix and downloaded the small flex file.

I didn't upload the advised US singular/vodafone flex file, as I thought it would be too incompatable with my UK PAYG orange servioce.

After uploading the keypad fix, I noticed that the stills camera was no longer functional (although the icon was there). But I hadn't finished with enabling the video yet, so i fired up P2Kman and swapped out the seems for those in the video.rar.

Video works fine, all options are functiona, but still no stills camera. One or two odd things also. When I launch the WAP browser, the display shuts off immediately and I have to touch the keypad to bring it back on (the browser connects though). Also there is some generally "buggy" behaviour.

I think that the new firmware upgrade doesnt like my old original software and the small keypad fix further compounds the problem.

My question, I've started this so I might as well go the whole hog.

If I reflash the firmware to the latest video enabled reflash file from MotoX...
R374_G_0E.42.0CR_reflash_MOTOX.shx

and then the latest (unlocked, unbranded, stock Moto) flex files (flexlash) from MotoX...
R374_G_0E.42.0CR_SE8615MBXXH1121_flexlash_MOTOX.shx
(is this actually a new flex file compatable with the firmware, or just a new hack?)

Will my phone still function on Orange PAYG? The reflash and flexlash files seem to be geared toward my part of the world and would seem to be compatible with one another. Would this cure my buggy phone? Will I get my stills camera back? Will England win the World Cup? icon_biggrin.gif

I dont know if I will have to hex edit the seem files from the flexlash file, but am happy to do so if it is necessary to enable the camera (would the mma files from the video.rar work with this - would save me having to make new menus and stuff).

I'm thinking latest firmware, with latest generic moto flex, with a little hex editing and your mma files should do the trick, no?

I'm very new to this so your advice is greatly appreciated. I'm not even sure I have the right end of the stick with it all.

Regards,
Martyn.

The Flash Flezx will change it be cause the flex is there to unbrand your fone, but you can easyly get with you carrier and ask for those IP address.. setting to get your inernet access, your multimedia messag and stuffs like that to work.
I think this one is video enable so you will not need to mess with mma files

Hi

I have been reading your forum and its bloody fascinating!

Anyway I am thinking of buying the wife for xmas a New Pink Razor V3 (ok ok I know its yuk but she likes it!! icon_redface.gif )

I would like to activate the video recording mode on it before I give it to her but have never done anything like this to a phone.

Can you tell me -
Is the pink V3 able to be activated ?
If so with it only just being launched will I still have to install new firmware or boot thingy! or will the versions on these phones be up to date anyway (Im UK based)
Following this, what is the best set of files/progs I need to download to make this work as I see you are updating them all the time.

Does these files (or seems I think you call them!) also set it that you can record longer than 8 secs. I see things about over a minute and stuff and high low resolution?

Lastly (and sorry for being such a doofus) is there anywhere you are able to take such phones and have someone do it for you!!! I am in Dundee. I know its unlikely you can just pop into Carphone wharehouse and ask someone to do it but you never know someone might know somewhere so I dont feck her xmas present up before she even gets it!!!!

Thanks for reading my drivel and hope you can help icon_blink.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Yes the pink razr will be able to have the video capture on it (if it doesnt come with it in the first place). All the programs you need to download (except PST cant help you get that) are one the first page of this thread. I would update with 42.0CR (newest flash available at www.motox.us). Dont think that there are many cell shops out there that offer this kind of service but you can do it yourself, worst case scenario if you are worried you can email your seem files and I will do the editing myself for your wifes phone, so basically all you will have to do it download and then upload the seems. Start reading here to build some knowledge on the subject http://xlr8.us/hofo Max record time is 1 min 30 seconds.
