Seriously Samsung, I'm still not sure how to seem edit even after reading and studying this tutorial that you supplied.http://www.xlr8.us/hofo/

When you say

is this right? http://members.boards.ie/chunks/bit-manipulation.gif

if it is right then it's already unchecked....i hadn't touched it at the time of my screenshot

Can you please tell me how to do it step by step? Im completely lost.

Thanks in advance

Ok I got one of those flippin pink V3 phones now! (she better appreciate it!) They are like hens teeth ffs, and I only just got it cause someone failed to come and pick it up!

Anyway can I ask

1. I guess I should charge it up first fully before doing anything like flashing and changing settings yes ?
2. How do I know what firmware or other things inside I have on this phone to work out if I need to update them ?
3 When I am doing all this do I need to have a sim card in the phone or can I do all these updates, amendments to the phone without a card in it (only as I said its for xmas and I would need to get her Sim card!)

Once I got this far I will ask you to maybe help me like you said and send me files already changed and stuff. Many thanks

1. Yes fully charge the battery
2. Menu>settings>phone status>other information> S/w Version (needs to be 40.90R or newer)
3.You dont need the sim card in the phone to do the mods, but you will need it to verify your success in enabling the video record

Like I said just make sure that the video record is not already enabled on the phone. Menu>multimedia>video>new video

Hello again, hope to charge the phone 2moro so will soon know if its video enabled etc already.

Can I ask the data cable you mention, is the one that comes with the phone ok? In the box is a black cable with small usb type plug for phone and usb at other side. Its identical as far as I can see to the cable I connect my Panasonic DVD RAM digital camcorder to my pc with ?

Also you told me how to check for what edition of firmware I have, but do I also need to check the boot loader too? If so what do I do for that ?

I also have a virgin sim card which this phone is set up for, so I should be able to use my own card when checking the phone so wont need her card at this time icon_smile.gif

Sorry I've been reading through all the posts and in addition to what I asked above can I also check before I go ahead with this-

1. You say your video.rar file is for cingular or T-mobile. The phone I have is UK based and will be using Virgin network and SIM card. Is this compatible.
2. Does the video.rar only activate the video record. I want the phone to otherwise remain as it is (if not, would it be ok if I gave you my email and you sent me just those bits?)
3. When I update using the video.rar do I still have to change the settings to enable more time to record than 8 secs or does the update do this at the same time for you?
4. I have dl P2Kman and xvi32 and unzipped them (they were zip files not rars ?) I have also dl P2kdrivers from link you posted but not installed them. Do I need to do this. You talk about PST or MPT, I dont have this but if I install the software that comes on the disc with the phone or the P2Kdrivers will this do?

Sorry for so many questions, but I am bricking it here as the phone is just out the box, I have never attempted anything like this before and last thing I want to do is totally screw up the phone and not have a xmas present to give her!!!

Sorry for being the only one posting just now!

To try and speed things up a bit I decided to give it a go to a certain point, but I am stuck and in any case dont want to go any further till I get some help.

I checked phone and it didnt have video recording

I checked firmware and bootloader and it was running R374-G-OE.40.79R and BL 07.E0

As far as I could see that meant they were of no use. So I downloaded Smartmoto and dl new firmware version R374-G-OE.42.09R and bootloader 08.23

I installed MPT from the disk that came with the phone, connected the phone using the data cable that came with it and it said it installed the Motorola USB modem. When I checked the modem tab in Control panel it only shows one entry for Motorola USB Modem (depending on what I am doing it either says COM3 or not present).

I then finally worked out how to flash my firmware and bootloader and they are now both installed as per versions above. The phone to my knowledge is still working perfectly fine. I didnt load 8.26 as I think you said that one can cause problems and you cant go back ???

However, on starting PK2man it said it detected various things like you said, but its only installed -

Motorola USB Device: Accessories Interface
Motorola USB Device: Data Logging MCU Interface
Motorola USB Device: Test Command Interface

No matter what I try, (uninstalling, trying manually, rebooting etc ect) I cannot seem to get it to recognise and install

Motorola USB Device: Communications Class - Communications Interface
Motorola USB Device: Communications Class - Data Interface
Motorola USB Device: Data Logging DSP Interface
Sound, video and game Controllers: USB Audio Device

Even when I do it through new hardware it says its installed them but when I check device manager they always show with yellow caution indicator no matter what I do. I even tried master reset!

So can you please now help me from here as per my previous post queries and take me from the point I have got too.

As I said if need be I can give you my email and get seems sent direct or whatever is easier. Many thanks
