I bought a credit from a website to have the T-Mobile V3 unlocked remotely but it's giving an error half way trough the process saying that the phone has a new security system. My question was, If I changed the software version, do you think I will be able to unlock the phone. I ask because I really don't know if the security that the error spoke of is a part of the software.

I thought I would add a little more detail for understanding. I was reading somewhere that some V3 Razrs are loaded with version of software that wont allow it to be unlocked with programs that presently exist. Since she just purchased her Razr and I got that error about new security system in the phone, I figured her phone had this new version of the software that they spoke of. I know changing the S/W version won't unlock it but do you think it will allow it to be unlocked remotely using the the credit that I purchased. When I allowed the program to read my Cingular Razr, it said it could be unlocked. I've had my Cingular V3 for a while and my S/W version is older so I thought if I flashed the T-Mobile V3 to maybe a earlier S/W version, it would allow it to be unlocked remotely?
Please Advise

I'm new to all this and I got it to work first try with my Black Razr. I wasn't sure of how to edit the seems - and I didn't want to screw something up - so I downloaded the V3 Video file and thought I'd go that route until I learned how to do the hex editing.
After all the files were uploaded into the phone and it restarted, there was nothing there. I thought I was going to have to flash the s/w but I didn't (the phone is only 3 weeks old). Just for the heck of it, I did a Master Reset and low and behold everything works!! Totally awsome!!
A big thanks to everyone!!

I saw that this works with T-Mobile and Cingular. I want to buy a unlocked one I suppose that would work also.
If so do i need to download a specific file?

What you are talking about has to do with the bootloader on the phone if you have the newer bootloader you cannot revert to an older one unfortunately.

It works for every carriers RAZR, I only have the seems from T-Mobile USA and Cingular. However if you want to actually do the seem editing it will work on any RAZR with a new enough S/w Version. I just got my unlocked T-Mobile UK RAZR and I unlocked Video function in 2 minutes by seem editing.

Ok cool I am having troble with this part:
Open directory /a/mobile/system
-Locate mma_ucp, hightlight by single clicking on the file and then click on pc to phone
-Locate mma_ucp in the V3 Video folder and click open.
-Click on the update list (this step is prob not necessary but doesnt harm anything)
-Again go back to directory /a/mobile/system
-Locate mma_dcp, hightlight by single clicking on the file and then click on pc to phone
-Locate mma_dcp in the V3 Video folder and click open.
-Click on the update list (this step is prob not necessary but doesnt harm anything)
When I open /a/mobile/system
do i locate mma_ucp on the phone or in the V3video.rar Because it says Pc to phone i suspect it be on the computer?
And How do i locate mma_ucp using P2kman?
Thanks

open p2kman, attach phone to cable, clock on update list, click on + beside /a/ to open up directory, do the same for the + beside mobile, locate system file, highlight mma_ucp file and click on pc to phone, locate mma_ucp file in video.rar, click open, do same thing for mma_dcp, update list, click on restart phone button.

Hello
I'm not sure how to read what boot loader version i have and whether i need to upgrade the flash. My S/W Version is R374_G_0E.40.9CR. Do I need the latest firmware to enable video recording?
Also what new features come with the latest firmware?
Appreciate any help
