I often will reset my V551 in order to get mp3 ringtones to work on it. I have noticed though that sometimes the phone doesn't act the same after each reset. It has to do with the exterior volume buttons. A few times after I've reset the phone, no matter when I push the exterior volume button, it would make the "ba-lip" noise and give me the option to change my ring style. Then other times, if I wait around 15 minutes, when I push the volume button, all it does is light up the outside screen, and then when I push the button again, it will go "ba-lip" and give me the option to change my ring style. The first way is a lot more handy, for the phone could be sitting for 2 hours, and will still "wake up" with one push of the outside volume button. Has anyone run into this same situation? And if they have any ideas how to have it one way or the other? Thanks in advance!

Well my phone is actually out of warranty, and I don't feel quite comfortable enough with the whole flashing thing (its such a small problem, I would hate to mess up my phone for such a little thing) so I think I'm just going to deal with it. The thing is I fixed it before by resetting my phone numerous times, where finally one time it actually worked, so I'm just going to try that a few more times see if it makes a difference. Thanks for your responses though.

I just realized another problem with this thing... after the phone has been closed for a while, and I press the outside volume button (without opening it) the outside light comes on, then goes out... but the screen in the inside stays on (I can see it through the crack). Now could there be any setting out there that would fix this? I don't know if this will suck the battery out of my phone or not. BTW this is linked to the same problem before, where it almost seems like the phone goes into some "sleep" mode after no use for about 5 min.

Ok, I actually just solved the problem myself. For some reason when the setting of "display timeout" is anything but "off" it will do the sleep mode thing... I thought that it was only a setting for when the phone is open, but apparently not. So when the "display timeout" is set to off, all is well. Thanks for your guy's help anyways
