In addition we offer better deals if you do your upgrade online sometimes so look in to that as well. |
Just a slight correction..... Same as NEW customer pricing does NOT mean that you are going to get the same price on phones as listed on T-Mobile.com as those phones are sold through our sales department to new customers or existing cusotmers that add a new line of service. When you call customer care to do your upgrade the prices may vary in comparison to the website. You can do an upgrade every 11 months as long as you have good payment history (LADEX suspends- partial suspend for being late on your bill, Non-pay suspend/cancellation- go against your eligibility) and you have always been on a plan $39.99+ for a single line account and $69.99+ for a multiline account.

I have had my phone for a year now. I do have a good payment history and been on the $39.99 plan.
Most of the new customers are eligible for a free phone and I wish to get a free phone and willing to sign another year's contract. What shld I do now?

You are not going to get a free phone that is better then the V300, You can still get a good discount though.

you have to think of it like this. Phone A may be free in the store for new service, but T-mobile actually pays $100 for that phone. So that's already a hit of $100 just giving you the phone free. Now it takes least 6 months for T-mobile to turn a profit off a customer on a 39.99 or higher plan. You come in before 11 months, retail price on Phone A is 99.99, or if you extend your contract it's 69.99, so by extending your contract you get #30 off. Lets say you have it for a full year and get full discount, you pay 19.99 in store and get a $20 mail in rebate, extending your contract for one full year from date of purchase. It's a business and they have to help their employees support our families, so they can't give everything away.
As far as other carriers go, you might be able to get like a v500 for free, after mail in rebates and a two year contract, 35$ activation fee, and a rate plan that is far inferior to the one you have, but is it really worth it just to get a good deal on a phone?
Remember, we have to make money somewhere, it's how businesses are run.

I totally understand the concept you have mentioned above.
Say, if I go for a RAZR upgrade, it is for $269 with one year extension. What exactly happens if I keep the phone for a year?

T-Mobile makes there money back for subsidizing the phone. Then you are eligible for a phone upgrade again (pending your payment history and price plan).

Guess by what you are saying, I wont be getting any money back on the $269 I am gonna pay for the phone now.
I thought that probably at the end of 11 months I might get back a part of this. Is it so?
