Recently my phone, Motorola V180 VSW, started cutting off calls after talking for 5 to 10 minutes. I relocated to the Atlanta area and this got worse. I was further experiencing boken messages. Upon calling customer service I was told that the software on this phone was a known issue and that I could look it up anywhere on the internet. They wanted to exchange it for the same phone for a price. Upselling me. Bless them. I waited another month and today went into a store and told them my issue. The sales person who sold me the phone didn't tell me there was a known issue and I didn't realize it until I phoned customer service the first time. Then the manager decided to try and upsell me on a different phone. She didn't even listen to my issue. The issue was never resolved because the company doesn't stand behind their product. After further reading the contract it states that the Tmobile can interrupt, drop, refuse or limit your calls but you still have to pay that monthly amount. What a racket. I wish I could give service like that to my patients. Today I went to a customer service store but had to talk to two more idiots on the phone none of which understood that I was lied to and if you are lied to do you trust another person. Neither individuals would answer the question. Further one of them once again tried to upsell me. Basically what they have told me is that it states in my contract that they don't have to do shit and they are not responsible for their products that they sell. If I were doing heart surgery to insert a pace maker and the patient dies who is the first person the family comes to? The intelligent answer was - well you're in a different business. I suggest to all get out while you can. I am trying to get out of my contract without having to give these idiots any more of my money. They don't deserve it as they are liars and they are just there to get your money. So all of you in the south who have no service due to Katrina Tmobile will still be collecting your money on a monthly basis. Read your contract that is exactly what it says. Oh and to top it all off if they decide to transfer service to another carrier they may charge transfer fees. Are all phone companies like this? Is there anyone else out there that has horrible customer service? I am a doctor and the phone service is a life line to patients. Calls can't be dropped and messages must be clear in order for people to stay alive. This was explained to no avail. The company will not break the contract unless I pay the 400.00 per phone that I have.

Where has good customer service gone? If any company is out there that is giving great customer service please let me know. Oh and I need somebody who stands behind their products that they sell.

If you have a complaint about your V180 the appropriate people to blame would be those at motorola. T-Mobile provides a service they do not manufacturer the phones. The V180 is a piece of garbage, but you get what you pay for. The simple answer is yes all carriers are the pretty much the same (individual experiences will obviously vary though). As far as customer service goes the cellular industry is not exactly ranked in the top 40 industries as far as that goes, but according to JD power they are number 1 in their field. You shouldnt have to pay for and exchange as long as your phone is under warranty only thing that you may have to pay for (optional feature) is express shipping. Your limited T-Mobile warranty covers the phone your paid for, same as the manufacturer. The ETF (early termination fee) is $200.00 per line.

Absolutely Samsung,
We don't charge to exchange the phone I think you may have misunderstood that part Dr. when you called in, and I apologize. T-Mobile does rigourous testing to all phones we decide to sell to our customers in hopes of avoiding situations like the v180 and the v300. However our testing did not prevent these two horrible motorola phones from getting to our customers. We have since then started to sell the v188 and v330 which are much more stable phones. In fact HP recently had numerous problems with the IPAQ and T-Mobile pulled it off our shelves when other carriers continued to sell it. We pride oursevles in having the highest ranked customer satisfaction for 2 years in a row by JD Power, and try our hardest not to sell badly made phones.

As for the store that is their job Dr. Their ownly purpose is to make sales, and that is what they are trained to do. In any commission based environment you will have people seem to only care about selling you something. Thats what happens when you go to radioshack, a cellular store, or even a car lot just to browse cars someone will try and sell you something because that is how they make their living. We will be happy to exchange the phone to perhaps improve your reception, and you will also be eligible for an upgrade 11 months after your most recent discounted phone. I deeply apologize for the problem you are experiencing, but we are limited to what we can do as your service provider. Please feel free to contact Motorola to express any dissatisfaction you may have with your v180.

Gotta say Tmobile has been pretty good to me. Some of the phones they carry, on the other hand, have been less than satisfactory...

I had a Samsung E715 croak on my at 10 months old. They shipped me a replacement, and it took green pictures... they sent me a third, and it was having similar display issues as the first. Finally, they sent me a Motorola V330, which was discounted at $150, brand new, with accessories. Been happy ever since.

Keep in mind, that all postage was paid... even the box and sticker was provided for the return trip.

...and you can buy a phone at discount every year. I know for a fact that Verizon doesn't do this.

I have to say, for a huge megacompany, Tmobile has done well by me.

T-Mobile has been nothing but a joke in my opinion. They DONT back up the products they sell. I bought a V180 last December and have had it replaced every 2 months due to defect. The last phone I recieved a week ago came to me already broken. I have lost over a month of talk time (non-refunded) and spent countless hours dealing with the WORST customer service in the world! The only way I can get a different phone is to pay or sign another contract with a company that has done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for me except take my money. The only restitution I have been offered is "extra minutes" which I don't need because I purchased a plan that suits me fine. If this were a car it would be a lemon, no doubt. 5 phones later and I still cannot get a decent phone or a free upgrade. on top of that they now charge $10 to me to ship these garbage replacements via UPS ground! Yet another scam by T-Mobile. Thank god my contract is almost up. T-mobile has had me over a barrel for 11 months now and it seems there's nothing I can do.

I am reporting them to the BBB, Fox 2 News Problem Solvers, and looking into whether or not anyone has started a class action suit against them and/or motorola regarding these phones and horrible service.

All in all T-MOBILE is a WORTHLESS company that WON'T satisfy their customers or stand behind their phones and I will NEVER use them again!

Does t-mobile send defective phones to people as replacements? That is what is happening to my dad with his v330. Is it Motorola's fault or T-Mobile's fault? Even though my Motorola is fine, I wouldn't buy one again. Motorolas even feel flimsy.

Maybe it is just bad luck. T-Mobile just shipped my dad another v330 today. This one seems to be fine. Hopefully it remains that way.

Samsung,

Do you work for T-Mobile because each post that is a negative experience you make it a point to actually let people know that you have had a great experience with the company. The company is unprofessional when it comes to customer service. After reading your August 30 entry I was amazed that you thought that it was motorola's issue to rectify the displeasure of the customer. I don't know where you're from but in America when a business sells a product they stand behind the quality of the product of the company either doesn't last long or they become a negative entity in the eyes of the consumer. For instance if you purchase a Calvin Klien garment from Macy's do you return it to Calvin Klien or talk to a representative from Calvin Klien? No you go straight back to Macy's and return it or exchange it for an undamaged product. The same thing is true with appliances. The only company that I have experienced that does not see this is Tmobile. My contract is up in January. I truly hope that those who are contemplating going with Tmobile rethink their potential purchase and go with a company that will stand behind their product. Not just the service but the hardware that they sell to unsuspecting customers and then when it breaks down they do everything in their power to make sure they let the individual know they are only responsible for the service.

I highly recommend that know one get involved in such a sordid company and those of you who are having an issue please keep me informed. If any one does start up a class action law suit, Count Me In!!!

One last thing. Technical Support - if only all of the stuff that you said was even close to the truth I would never have come to this site to bring my experience to the attention of hundreds of people. If you believe Tmobile is a panacea of the cellular industry you are sorely mistaken. I did exactly what I would do if I were working with any other company. Tmobile only allows you to go to a manager and when you ask to escalate the issue they, believe it or not, give you a fax number to send your complaint. When you ask for a contact name and direct phone number they won't give any such thing. Obviously the CEO's and other managers realize the problem and don't want to be bombarded with the amount of calls they would recieve because the product is very below standard. I've owned my own business for many years and have many friends who are CEO's in fortune 500 companies that would never think of giving a customer a fax number to send their complaints to if they wanted to escalate it. BAD BUSINESS. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The reason Tmobile is running the 1500 minutes for 39.99 is becasue they are having trouble keeping customers and want to attract more. It is my hope that those would be customers read these entries and do some research on their own before the make a pact with Devil of the Cellular industry.

Nuff Said.
