So, I've been wondering if an UNLOCKED cell phone would work on the Verizon network? Anyone know? I really like the new Motorolla RAZR, but Verizon doesn't offer it. People are selling unlocked ones but I'm uncertain if they would work on the Verizon network. Anyone here have experience with UNLOCKED cell phones? Any imput would be so appreciated.
Thanks!

Well as of right now you cannot get the RAZR for Verizons network even if it is UNLOCKED. It is a GSM based phone and Verizon operates on CDMA based technology. There are rumors that motorola will be releasing a CDMA verison of the RAZR and that there are some EXPENSIVE ones out there but I would hold off until they oficcially release a CDMA
RAZR

Thanks for the post--I was wondering about that. Its ashamed that Verizon doesn't carry the phone. I have the most difficult time finding a phone I like in the Verizon selection. It just seems to me that their phone selection isn't that great. Nothing pops out at me, everything is just bland. If it weren't for my employee discount I get for Verizon though work, I would have left to get my RAZR through Cingular.....

Yeah it is a shame all of verizon's phones seem to be the same with different designs but same basic features. I guess it's because of the limited brands that produce CDMA type phones.

One thing you must make sure before you buy an unlocked CDMA phone, before verizon will let you activate it on their network they make sure it is GPS LOCATION/E911 CAPABLE or they wont activate it
