I'm just wondering how ****ed I am. I tried backing up my firmware and it said ERR_RANGE_OUTSIDE_FLASH or something, so I figured I could always use the firmware on that one website. Probably a bad idea. I went to flash with the x427M firmware, and it gave me another ERR_RANGE_OUTSIDE_FLASH, and the black screen was flickering. Now it won't turn on at all.
Any ideas?

Well, this may or may not give you the piece of mind you're looking for but...
As of geting the first error when making backups, it's because the "personal settings" address. Apparently, the X42x series phones do not store anything on that address, because I got the same error when I tried to backup my X426. If you remove that address from the "read range", then you won't have that error.
I haven't tried flashing though. Try re-downloading that copy of the X427M firmware and try reflashing again. If that doesn't work, try reverting to your backup, if you did make one. All fails, go and ask at the Flashing forum. I'm sure somebody else will be able to help you better.

Try unplugging the battery. The phone has to start its bootloader when using Optiflash which is normally activate when Optiflash ask for "power on mobile". Your phone's firmware is corrupted now and it is kind of hang like a PC. I saw posts that poeple having similar problem as yours can start the bootloader by unplugging and replugging the battery. I suppose when power is first applied to the phone, it will look for any request from the serial port and determine whether it should start the bootloader. If it doesn't work, you may try pressing the power on button after you plug in the battery. One member mentioned that there is a certain time interval that the phone can recognize the power on after power is reapplied.
In the worst case, if the bootloader is corrupted, then you have to return the phone for repair.

What version of Optiflash are you using again?
BTW, when it says "Power On Mobile" and you try to turn it on, the phone won't physically turn on. Instead, I think you'll see the LED blinking rapidly for a while without turning on. That's what's supposed to happen when you connect the phone to Optiflash.

I've tried both 4.14 and 4.12, neither of them will get past 'power on mobile'.
Even if I take out and put in the battery when it says 'power on mobile', and even if I plug and unplug the data cable, it never goes past 'power on mobile'. I'm pretty sure this one is fatal

If it is still under warranty, return it for repair.

Did you clear the ranges before flashing?

xXxSamsungxXx, may be you can help to tell lordofokra which OptiFlash version and the correct setup/config that he should use. Besides, he has another major problem that is he can't activate the power on switch because of firmware corruption. Not even by unplugging the battery.

I didn't have any ranges in the flashing tab, I had the two ranges that you're supposed to have in the backup tab (I had to use 4.12 for the backup since I couldn't find the backup option in 4.14).
0x00000000 - 0x00001fff and 0x00000000 - 0x00001fff
