Hi Everyone,

I have recently purchased a "Samsung X640 Mobile Picture Phone and obtained the Data Cable and software (Samsung PC Studio PIMS & File Manager)

I am trying to upload pictures from my new mobile phone to my computer but unfortunately when accessing the "File Manager" in Samsung PC Studio PIM & File Manager 2.0, I am unable to access any pictures from my new mobile as no file menu is available against "My Phone" (Top left in dialog box). and only the first of the five image icons (four grayed out) is available to click on too, the only one available only refreshes my computer files listed in the bottom half of the File Manager's window and although i am on line am showed"Offline" in the File Managers window??

When trying to upload pictures from my computer to Mobile in "Image to Phone Dialog Box)" although i can access my computer files, the Editor and Upload icons are also grayed out, so once again am unable to carryout the procedure.

On loading up "Samsung PC Studio PIM & File Manager 2. i get a message:

"Cannot open port and this program is switched in "Offline Mode", try to switch into "Online", whatever that means?

Anyone understand the significance of this??

I have spent ages going through the "Help" menu that came with the software but it appears quite basic and fails to give the necessary help required.

Quite desperate so any help and assistance will be very much appreciated.

I am running Windows XP (Home) and have only basic knowledge of computers!

Kind Regards,

Trisha

PS: Noticed an updated version of "Samsung PC Studio PIM & File Manager 2." on Samsung website; downloaded it along with internal modems: Samsung GPRS Modem (COM 1) and Intel(R) 537EP V9x DF PCI Modem (COM3) plus Image Editor and PC Synchronisation but on following the help menu, nothing seemed to work

An after thought:

Having download two different versions in this order;

1. Samsung PC Studio PIM & File Manager
2. Samsung PC Studio PIM & File Manager 2.0

Are they likely to have a corrupting influence?

Is the cable a serial or usb cable? If it is usb, does it come with the driver for the cable? Have you installed the driver? You mentioned in your post about GPRS Modem (COM1), it sounds like it is a serial cable. Am I right?

You mentioned that you downloaded another PC Studio from Samsung. Did you get it from here:

http://www.samsung.com/search/search.asp?qt=X640&la=en&col=wu+ws+downl oad&tabpage=1&radio=1&select=0&x=11&y=6

You have to download the one that is specific to X640, the ones for other models may not work for X640.

Click on the url above in the posting by js1662, enter your phone detail: E700 and that should get you what you are looking for.

Hope that helps

Offline usually means something is wrong such as wrong cable, improper driver or PC problem such as virus or missing file. Hence, you have to make sure you have the correct cable, the driver is installed correctly. If it still doesn't work, try the whole setup in another computer.
