hey guys , i just recently got my new v635 phone and it came with a usb cord so i can add mp3s and stuff to my phone. my phone plays mp3's and everything but when i try sending them as ring tones it doesnt seem to work. i tried cutting the files using sound editor like one of the tutorials said to do on this site, but when i send the file to my phone it just goes right to the mp3 player section on my phone and it doesnt let me set those files as ringtones. ive searched this site all night last night and i couldnt find a solution, so i was wondering if anyone could help me. thnx!!

Click the menu button on your desired Mp3 file on your phones menus and select "Move">>"Phone" and it will move it to the phones memory (can take a while) and hopfully- bingo

Have you tried Mobile Phone Tools??? For anyone with a Moto Phone and a USB cable it is a must. It is easy to download ringers pictures etc.

for some reason i cant do that because the only place my mp3 file shows up is under the mp3 player section, not under ringtones or anything.
and as for the mobile phone tools thing, my phone cam with a program thing where i can just drag files from my comptuer to my phone. so im not sure if i really need that.

I worked out how to do it finally!!!!!
Ok, these next couple of sentences are just for the googlers out there who might be looking for this article:
transferring files from t flash (memory card) to phone
Motorola V635
using mp3 files as ringtones
There we go.
Ok, so firstly, I formatted my transflash card, (remember when you do this it erases all the files on the memory card) Then I connected my phone to my computer using the USB cable that comes with your phone.
To do this you have to go to Menu<Settings<Connections<USB Connection
Then attach to computer and go into My Computer
Open up "Removable Drive folder<mobile<then you see all these sub folders
Just put your files into these folders and it should put them straight onto your phone!
Be careful when disconnecting your phone.
Then turn your phone off and turn it on again!
Now go to the Menu then to the Multimedia submenu.
Go down to sounds and open it. When it opens, click your menu button on your phone and a list of options will come up with options such as...
Switch Storage Device
Apply as Ringtone
New Details
etc...
Select 'Switch Storage Device' choose the transflash card!
Your songs should appear in that list.
Then click the menu button when a song is selected again and you will see another set of options such as
Switch Storage Device
New
Details
etc...
Go down until you reach the option
MOVE
Press select
And then select the phone!
It should then start moving the file to your phone where it will be available in the Sounds list of your phone!!!
REMEMBER YOU WILL PROBABLY ONLY BE ABLE TO HAVE ONE SONG STORED TO YOUR PHONE AT A TIME AS THE MOTOROLA PHONE'S HAVE VERY LITTLE AMOUNTS OF SPACE FOR STORAGE ON THE ACTUAL PHONE.
You may have to go "switch storage device" again after you have moved the file to your phone so that you see the tones that are stored on the PHONE not on the memory card!
Hope this has been of some help!
