Those are top choice phones for people looking for what you are looking for. If you want a smaller phone try thr 6100 or the a670. If you want speakerphone try the 6100 or the 8900. And if you want the best camera try the 6100 or a670. I didn't know verizon still sold the 8900, always liked audiovox's choice of phones with verizon. Plus it has cool blue lights that flash when the phone rings.

One thing to consider is which service all your friends have, I think that in my area the Northeast, Verizon have the best coverage but most of the cariers now offer some kind of plan that includes free mobile to mobile minutes, so if your friends that you will be calling are on Verizon get that, but if they have T-Mobile, even if they don't have the best coverage, your phone bill might be lower.
that said I had a vx6100, nice phone but I traded it for a Motorola which I think has better reception and some features that I really wanted, but the vx6100 took ok, but not great pictures, unlike the Motorola you can get a kit to hook the phone to your computer and download the pictures to a pc so you don't have to pay $0.25 for each picture just to get it off the phone.
the vx6100 is also a tri-mode phone which means it can use the old analog network so more cell sites to use
