you can try to unlock it yourself with a data cable and software.

Sure, it's all over this forum - instrutions on how to and links to a sweet site that will also give you step by step instructions and the unlock software. But! Since you missed the last I don't know how many times it's been on here.......Here it is again. http://motoaide.com:8081/unlock.htm

Depending on your s/w version it may get alittle more difficult because your may need to downgrade the flash. If you have S/w Version R364 then its simple just follow the instructions at the above site. If you have R365 you need to flash to R364 to unlock. Check your S/w version menu>settings>phone status>other information>S/W Version

I can't do anything on the phone period, when I turn it on it just says contact your service provider. Is there another way to find it out?

sounds like you need the PUK code from your service provider. The phone has been blocked and only the provider has the code.
