Service Provider: Cingular Violates many FTC & FCC Laws |

Regarding a $79.99 a month bill, for a $44.99 plan for wireless PDA internet access.
Customer Service: “Hello Sir?”
Customer: “yep”
Customer Service: “Thank you for holding, I do apologize for the wait. I was going over your account with another representative.”
Customer: “Yep, Where you able to fix it?”
Customer Service: “Ummm, we do not have an $44.99 unlimited data plan.”
Customer: “Uh, it’s actually right on your website, would you like me to refer you to that address?”
Customer Service: “Sir, I don’t need you to refer me to that address, we DON’T have one.”
Customer: “It’s right on your website.”
Customer Service: “K, is that the CINGULAR website?”
Customer: “Yes it is, it’s the Cingular website and I’m going to refer you to it right now. Again, I’m recording this call for the FCC, so they’re going to hear—they’re going to hear everything that’s said right now.”
Customer Service: “That’s fine.”
Customer: “And, I’m going to your webpage here, cingular.com… And I’m just going to guide you through how I get there. I go to ‘Shop Cingular’, ‘Rate Plans’, and I’m entering my zip code here, a ‘Purchase new phones or plans’ and I’m going to ‘Data plans’ and right on the webpage there is a—if you scroll down a ok right under ‘Data plans’ here it says ‘Data Connect Unlimited’, ‘44.99 a month’ for ‘Unlimited Access’. It’s right on the webpage.
Customer Service: “Please one moment”.
After another period of holding another representative comes on the phone to repeat the same information, clearly contradicting the webpage. This continues for at least another half hour until another representative says that the plan was purchased under the former AT&T Wireless and that they cannot be of help with this issue. Customer asks representative to check the date that that account was opened. Customer service correctly replies “July 8th”. Customer then informs Customer Service that AT&T Wireless was no longer advertising any products and services by that time and that there was no mention of AT&T Wireless anywhere on any correspondence (mainly the billing materials) associated with the account. Customer service then offered a migration service in which new equipment would need to be purchased by the customer, because the customers current hardware was locked by AT&T Wireless such that it could only accept sim cards from the former AT&T Wireless and not Cingular (a simple unlock code could have fixed this). The customer would have to buy new equipment; sign a new contract with cingular and STILL would be responsible for the previous (incorrect) bill.

Let us know how that lawsuit works out.
After further reading your rant, I see what has happened here. It sounds like (correct me if I'm wrong) you're still under your blue plan, and you want the orange plan. You can't get to orange unless you migrate and upgrade your phone.
ngmwireless, when was your AT&T Wireless account started, and how long have you had this particular plan? I see it was opened on July 8th, but that couldn't have possibly been this year. There is something being left out in this story.[/quote]

aparently ngm you have alot of issues with cingular either personal or whatever, but maybe you should just cancel you service and save youself alot of time, its apparent you dont like cingular because all you do is nitpick and complain, so just cancle you ervice and go to another carier you seem to think they are so much better anyway

Hey, do what I did with my Treo 650... get it unlocked, then switch to T-Mobile... $19.99/month unlimited data... no fuss, and you can always change your features online! I've paid the penalty to break my Cingular Blue contract, and since then, I've never been happier... did I mention they charge $4.99 for ANY 400 (picture/video/text) messages?
Cingular should take note... their rate plans are way too expensive versus the competition and their service levels are outdated with the times.
